Roll for Outfit 2:D&D Bare Necessities,DnD Magical Underwear
Par Vault of ManyThings
Statut actuel
Your adventurers have magic swords, ancient armor, and legendary cloaks.
But what do they wear when the armor comes off?
Roll for Outfit 2: The Bare Necessities is a playful, practical supplement for the overlooked moments of fantasy roleplay: long rests, inn stays, bathhouses, shopping scenes, quiet conversations, awkward encounters, and everything that happens between adventures.
Because every character has a story. Their wardrobe should too.
Designed for the D&D 2024 ruleset.
More Than a Joke. A New Way to Add Character.
Roll for Outfit 2 begins with a complete core book, built to give GMs useful material and players more ways to express who their characters are.
The physical book contains the complete, defined core content. The growing collection, extended goals, and uncapped digital custom content are delivered digitally.
Your Characters Have a Personality. Their Wardrobe Usually Does Not.
Most fantasy roleplaying games give players endless choices for combat.
They can choose weapons, spells, armor, feats, familiars, magical rings, cursed relics, and ancient artifacts. They can spend an hour deciding which sword to buy, then spend another hour debating the best armor enchantment.
But when the battle ends?
When the party settles into an inn after a hard journey, sneaks into a noble’s manor, visits a bathhouse, prepares for a long rest, or spends a quiet evening around the fire?
Most characters simply wear “adventurer’s clothes.”
That blank space is full of opportunity.
A wizard who sleeps in embroidered silk has a different story from one who keeps a travel-worn nightshirt folded beside their spellbook. A rogue who insists on enchanted, silent undergarments is telling the table something important. A paladin with ceremonial smallclothes may have traditions to uphold. A barbarian who refuses to wear anything at all may have opinions about civilization.
Those details do not need to be complicated. They just need to be available.
Turn Downtime Into a Story Worth Remembering
Roll for Outfit 2 gives you a new category of magical items: personal, wearable, character-driven magic.
These items can be funny, luxurious, practical, suspicious, cursed, comforting, dramatic, or genuinely useful. They can become a reward after a difficult quest, a strange discovery in a noble’s wardrobe, a gift from a tailor, or the centerpiece of an entire shopping scene.
For GMs, the book provides tools to make towns feel more alive without needing to build every shop from scratch.
For players, it provides ways to show character through choices that exist outside initiative order.
For the whole table, it creates more chances for those small, memorable moments people talk about long after the campaign ends.
Magic That Lives Under the Armor
This is not another armor catalog. It is not a list of cosmetic flavor with no game use. And it is not a collection of disconnected jokes.
Roll for Outfit 2 is designed around a simple idea:
Personal clothing can create practical choices, roleplay opportunities, and memorable stories.
Each magical undergarment is meant to offer more than a name and a punchline. It should give the GM a usable hook, give the player a reason to care, and give the table an opportunity to react.
The five shops and tailors do the same thing at a larger scale. They do not simply sell items. They introduce personalities, local flavor, services, rumors, custom orders, and reasons for the party to come back.
This is fantasy clothing as world-building.
What's Inside
125 Magical Undergarments
The heart of Roll for Outfit 2 is its collection of 125 magical undergarments.
Some are elegant. Some are absurd. Some are discreetly useful. Some are cursed in ways that will make a perfectly ordinary social encounter much less ordinary.
Use them as magical treasure, shop inventory, gifts, discoveries, character rewards, or hooks for an entire side quest.
A good magical item should do more than change a number on a character sheet. It should make a player imagine how their character uses it, protects it, shows it off, hides it, or regrets putting it on.
That is the goal here.
Five Shops and Their Tailors
Where do these magical garments come from? Who makes them? Who repairs them, appraises them, sells them, or knows exactly why a particular pair of enchanted smallclothes should never be worn during a thunderstorm?
The core book includes five detailed shops and their tailors, each designed to be dropped into a city, village, port, trade road, or campaign setting of your choice.
Each location gives you:
- A distinct atmosphere and visual identity
- A tailor, vendor, or shopkeeper with personality
- Inventory and services
- Reasons for players to return
- Rumors, complications, and plot hooks
- A way to introduce magical garments naturally into the world
Whether your players are looking for a practical replacement, a ridiculous gift, a suspicious bargain, or a very specific magical commission, these shops are ready to become part of the campaign.
Every Backer Adds One More Magical Undergarment
The core book is complete on its own. It contains 125 magical undergarments and five shops with their tailors.
But the digital collection does not stop there.
Every backer who joins the campaign adds one more magical undergarment to the extended digital collection.
That means every pledge helps make the project larger. Every new backer contributes a fresh item for GMs and players to discover. Every person who shares the campaign helps create more material for the entire community.
This is not a vague promise that the book might grow someday. It is a direct campaign mechanic:
One backer = one new magical undergarment in the digital collection.
The printed books remain focused on the polished core book. That lets us expand the digital collection with the campaign community while keeping the physical editions clear, reliable, and deliverable.
Put Your Idea in Roll for Outfit 2
Some backers want more than a book. They want to leave their mark on it.
The campaign offers custom-content add-ons for magical underwear, vendors, shops, and shopkeepers. These options give backers the opportunity to contribute an idea that can become part of the project.
The printed-book custom slots are deliberately limited so each contribution can receive the care, writing, editing, balancing, and layout attention it deserves.
Printed-Book Custom Content
- 25 custom magical-underwear slots
- 5 custom-vendor slots
- 5 custom-shop-and-shopkeeper slots
Digital Custom Content
Digital custom-content options are available without a quantity limit. This lets more backers contribute while preserving the defined scope of the printed core book.
All custom submissions are subject to creator review, editing, mechanical balance, tone, legal and safety review, and final layout requirements. We will work with contributors to turn strong ideas into content that belongs in the world of Roll for Outfit 2.
Open the Book. Find a Moment. Make It Matter.
Roll for Outfit 2 is built for easy use during play.
You do not need to redesign your campaign around it. You can introduce an item when the party finds treasure, visits a market, enters an inn, completes a quest, needs a disguise, attends a social event, or simply takes a long rest.
Use the book when:
- The party visits a tailor, merchant, bathhouse, inn, or market
- You want to reward a character with something more personal than another weapon
- A player wants their wardrobe to reflect their personality
- You need a small magical item with a story hook
- You want a shopping scene to feel like a real encounter
- You need an NPC, location, rumor, or service for a settlement
- Your table enjoys character-driven downtime and roleplay
A magical undergarment can be a quiet comfort, a strange curse, a social complication, a useful secret, a family heirloom, an embarrassing discovery, or the beginning of a new side quest.
The best part is seeing what your players decide it means.

Digital shops give the campaign room to add more locations, personalities, themes, and plot hooks without expanding the physical book beyond its defined core scope.
Bring us your magical lingerie boutique, traveling laundry cart, secretive tailor, luxury bathhouse merchant, eccentric craftsperson, or completely unexpected idea. We will help shape it into a usable location for other tables.
Roll for Outfit 1: The Adventuring Clothes PDF - $13
Before The Bare Necessities, there was Roll for Outfit 1: The Adventuring Clothes.
This digital PDF focuses on the clothing characters wear when they are out in the world: on the road, in a dungeon, at court, crossing wilderness, or preparing for the next fight.
Add it to your pledge for $13 and pair the personal magic of Roll for Outfit 2 with the adventuring wardrobe from the first book.
Together, the two books give your table more magical clothing options for both sides of an adventurer’s life:
What they wear into danger
What they wear when the danger is over
Extended Goals
The physical core book is complete from the beginning: 125 magical undergarments and five shops with their tailors.
Extended goals add new digital content beyond that complete foundation. As the campaign grows, so does the world around magical clothing, bathing, tailoring, laundry, travel, and personal magic.
Every unlocked goal is delivered as part of the extended digital content.
25 Backers - Laundromat of Whispers
Where clothes go to get clean, and secrets go to get dirty.
A laundromat might sound ordinary. In a magical city, it is anything but.
The Laundromat of Whispers is a place for cleaning, repairs, gossip, discreet messages, magical stain removal, and secrets hidden in fabric. It can become a social hub, a source of rumors, or the beginning of a strange local mystery.
Expect location details, NPCs, services, inventory, and hooks involving lost clothing, suspicious stains, hidden enchantments, and whispered conversations.
50 Backers - Travelling Wash Kit
Everything an adventurer needs to stay fresh on the road.
Not every party has access to a bathhouse or a tailor. This portable magical wash kit is built for wilderness campaigns, long journeys, and adventurers who have been sleeping in armor for far too long.
The kit may include magical cleaning tools, a portable wash basin, soaps with unusual properties, a fast-drying cloth, and rules for using it during travel.
75 Backers - Bath House of Renewal
Wash away the grime, and perhaps a little of the exhaustion too.
A bathhouse is not just a place to get clean. It is a sanctuary, a social space, a place for rumors, healing, rest, business, and secrets.
This digital location includes a detailed bathhouse, services and pricing, magical treatments, attendants, NPCs, and hooks for downtime scenes or urban adventures.
100 Backers - Underwear Emporium
The finest smallclothes in the realm.
A full shop devoted to magical underwear.
The Underwear Emporium includes a distinctive shop location, a memorable shopkeeper, inventory, pricing, magical and mundane options, and plot hooks that turn a simple shopping trip into an encounter worth playing.
125 Backers - Master Tailor NPC
The person who makes the magic happen.
This detailed tailor NPC gives your campaign a recurring craftsperson, ally, complication, or quest-giver.
The entry includes appearance, personality, history, services, magical tailoring specialties, voice and mannerisms, connections to other NPCs, and favors the tailor may ask of the party.
150 Backers - Spa Sanctuary
Where adventurers go to truly relax.
The Spa Sanctuary expands the world beyond ordinary bathing. This luxurious location can become a reward after a difficult arc, a meeting place for nobles, or a place where a relaxing day turns into something much more complicated.
Expect treatments, staff, magical benefits, NPCs, social hooks, and reasons for even hardened adventurers to slow down.
175 Backers - Arcane Attire: Magic of Clothing
Spells that shape, create, repair, and enchant what you wear.
This collection adds spells focused on personal attire and magical clothing.
Examples may include spells that create formal outfits, repair damaged garments, summon a chosen wardrobe, alter the look of clothing, or create unexpected complications when fashion magic goes wrong.
200 Backers - Second Underwear Emporium
More choices for the discerning adventurer.
A second magical-underwear shop with a completely different personality, clientele, and style.
Where the first emporium may be refined, practical, or traditional, this one can be more eccentric, luxurious, secretive, fashionable, or strange. It adds another vendor, inventory, hooks, and reasons for players to explore the local clothing scene.
225 Backers - Second Bath House
A different kind of clean.
This second bathhouse brings contrast to the first. It may serve a different neighborhood, culture, social class, or magical tradition.
It includes new staff, services, mechanical benefits, atmosphere, and plot hooks, making it easy to place in a different city or use as a rival to the first location.
250 Backers - Second Laundromat
More secrets. More stories. More suspicious laundry.
A second magical laundromat brings new mysteries, local flavor, and opportunities for gossip-driven adventures.
This one may be run by a retired adventurer, a hidden criminal network, an overly cheerful magical construct, or someone with a very unusual relationship to cursed clothing.
275 Backers - Second Spa
Relaxation, redefined.
This spa provides a fresh take on magical rest and recovery. It may focus on hot springs, magical mud, druidic treatments, elven rituals, noble excess, or something entirely stranger.
It includes new services, NPCs, benefits, complications, and hooks for downtime or social play.
300 Backers - Magical Sewing Kit
The tools of a master tailor.
This is not an ordinary sewing kit.
It may include shears that cut fabric to the perfect size, thread that never tangles, needles that stitch on their own, and tools that help adventurers repair, customize, or enchant clothing during their travels.
The kit is designed for crafting-minded players, creative problem-solving, and GMs who want a useful magical tool that feels different from another weapon or combat item.
325 Backers - Second Master Tailor NPC
Another pair of skilled hands.
A second master tailor brings a different personality, specialty, and relationship to magical clothing.
They may be a rival, mentor, friend, former enemy, or possible business partner to the first tailor. Their entry expands the world’s network of craftspeople and gives GMs another memorable NPC to use.
350 Backers - Third Laundromat
The laundry network grows.
The third laundromat completes a trio of magical cleaning establishments. It can stand alone or connect to the earlier laundromats through shared rumors, rivalries, trade routes, secret messages, or a larger laundry conspiracy.
375 Backers - Third Spa
The ultimate relaxation destination.
The third spa is the grandest, strangest, or most exclusive of the three.
It may be a hidden retreat, a luxurious noble destination, an ancient magical spring, or a place whose restorative rituals come with consequences. This location is designed for memorable downtime at higher levels of play.
400 Backers - Third Master Tailor NPC
The tailor who completes the collection.
The third master tailor completes the network of skilled artisans. This NPC can tie the other tailors together through guild politics, rivalry, mentorship, shared history, or a secret that affects magical clothing across the region.
425 Backers - Third Shop
Every shop tells a story.
The third shop opens a new direction for the collection. It may focus on footwear, accessories, unusual magical clothing, specialty services, or a completely unexpected category of personal items.
It includes a new shopkeeper, location, inventory, and fresh story hooks.
450 Backers - Third Bath House
The ultimate bathhouse experience.
The final bathhouse completes the location network with a new atmosphere, services, staff, magical benefits, and plot potential.
Use it as a destination, a recurring social space, a sanctuary, a political meeting place, or the setting for a very unusual mystery.
475 Backers - Magical Soaps and Recipes
Cleanliness is next to godliness. Magical cleanliness is something else entirely.
The final extended goal adds a collection of magical soaps, each with its own effect, ingredients, rarity, crafting requirements, and flavor.
These soaps may help adventurers smell incredible, become harder to track, attract attention from strange creatures, resist an element, glow softly at night, or solve a problem nobody expected soap to solve.
This goal is built for GMs and players who enjoy crafting, alchemy, travel preparation, and delightfully specific magical tools.
