SCP: Sealed Files - An immersive story-driven board game

  Hi everyone!

  We are a small independent team currently developing SCP: SEALED FILES, a narrative horror board game set in the SCP Foundation universe.

  Somewhat similar to Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, the game is fully built around investigation, storytelling, and immersion, with some parts also drawing inspiration from roleplaying games, allowing players to really step into the shoes of their characters and immerse themselves in the dark, unsettling atmosphere of the foundation.

  1 to 5 brave souls take on the role of Foundation personnel or unsuspecting civilians and investigate different SCP-related incidents (such as [REDACTED]) through a series of scenarios, called "files". These “files” are essentially scenario books, designed and written carefully to resemble the SCP reports documents we all know and love. Players will have to make their way through these scenario books, living the story as it unfolds, using their own wits, the clues they uncover, some roleplay, and the cards included with each file.

  A big part of the experience comes from the immersive countdown running on a computer sitting in the middle of the table. The timer will feature video and audio tapes, clues, [REDACTED] and sound design, creating a sense of urgency and making players feel like they are experiencing the events in real time. However, using the computer isn’t mandatory, and you’ll still be able to fully enjoy the board game without it, although we highly recommend using it, as it makes the experience much more immersive!
