Shortcuts: The Acronym Game is a tabletop board game that's fun for the whole family. Players test their acronym knowledge as they traverse the board, earn tokens, steal from their opponents, and try to become the acronym MVP. You'll have a blast making your teammates and opponents LOL while piecing together the meanings of acronyms in 5 difficulty levels across 5 different categories. It's a trivia game, it's a word game, it's fun, and it's even a little educational, it's Shortcuts!
Navigate around the board by guessing what acronyms stand for.
Acronyms are grouped into the 5 categories below; each category has 5 levels of difficulty (1 easiest, 5 hardest).
The category you answer from is determined by the color of the space you’re on, but you always select the level of difficulty.
If you select a ‘1’ and guess correctly, you move one space, a ‘2’, two spaces and so on.
If you guess incorrectly, other players can guess and try to ‘steal’.
As you traverse the board, you'll find literal shortcuts, so don't worry if you think you're too far behind. There are several opportunities to catch up!
Players must correctly guess what at least one acronym stands for from each category and of each difficulty level before reaching the Finish tracking their progress by filling their tray with category tiles and difficulty gems.
Whoever answers one final acronym after filling their tray and reaching the Finish is the winner!
It's that simple! By design, this isn't a game you have to spend hours learning how to play. You can easily learn as you go while referencing the rulebook. There's even a quick start guide and how to play video to make the learning process fast and easy. There's no barrier to entry, just start playing!
Shortcuts: The Acronym Game is the brainchild of Alan Shaw, who’s spent most of his 40-year career in the multi-sport mega event industry -- which is inundated with acronyms. He has wanted to make this game a reality for decades and finally found the time to do it! Alan and his team could never have predicted how much enjoyment and laughter it would bring during the 20 play-tests they’ve conducted. There has been an outpouring of love for Shortcuts from so many of our play-testers that we knew it was time to take the game to the masses! Shortcuts was designed and illustrated with the help of Mark Oakley, an accomplished artist and designer based in St. Louis (www.oakartwork.com), and Haley Shaw, a multi-hyphenate filmmaker and lighting and camera technician (www.haleyjshaw.com).
