Smorgasborg - Armies of sustenance
Par Apocalypse Miniatures
Statut actuel
Smorgasborg - what is it?
In an alternate dimension (also known as my imagination) the food spirits within our kitchen reek havoc upon one another in an eternal battle for our stomachs. Within the lands known as Smorgasborg lies a realm vast and wide, separated into counties where like minded food types nurture the land, raise their families, go to the pub etc etc etc...
Although generally peaceful but distinguishable from one another in features and nature these differing food types enjoy a similar past time. Bashing the living daylights out of each other once a week in BATTLE.
DESIGN IDEAS
A llittle rough i know but this is where it started, scrappy notebook, scribbled notes and dodgy sketches Lol.
This Kickstarter enables you to print, build, paint and create armies to re-enact famous battles, wars and campaigns form the History of Smorgasborg - such as:
The siege of Knockwurst - Operation Cheeseboard - Fall of Butterbread Chateau - The Battle of Bakewell and the Bloody Skirmish at Shindig Pass.
HOW DID IT COME TO THIS???
3D Printed tester
Courtesy of Stonebeards forge, who can print your army off for you if you don't own a printer.
Having had many a conversation with wargamers at events and shows I began to notice a regular topic re-occurring in our chats. That being that the community is getting older. As an ex-teacher and an after school wargames club runner I remembered not finding it difficult encouraging students to attend club and get into the hobby. However some of them only began attending club once they had hit their mid teens. How could they become wargamers at an earlier age? Could students get into wargaming in Primary schools?
So if Primary schools wanted to introduce wargaming to their students - how would they go about it? Young kids pushing around units of flesh eating zombies, shouting death to the living while pretending to cast spells with their necromancers that are burning the flesh from their enemies corpses might not go down well. Little Johnny might see the fun side of it but Nigel may have nightmares for a week or two if not be permanently scarred for the rest of his life.
Painted prints
Soooooo - Cute armies, bright colours, smiling faces.... easy to build and to paint. Simple rules (that i.m working on) with the option of more difficult ones that will make their grey matter tingle?
These other excellent excuses also sprang to mind. Attempting to get your kiddies into wargaming?
You cant paint most detailed minis or have never completely painted a full army?
You enjoy the less serious side of wargaming?
You LOOOOVE all things cute?
So what can you get in this Kickstarter?
FRUIT / CAKE - ARMY
You could just take one fruit from a possible eight sculpts and with all the options available print an entire army of RASPBERRIES to fight your friends dwarves - undead - ancient Romans - Mongol horde - LOL - or another fruit or cake army. Or purchase the entire Fruit range of 8 foot sculpts and one cavalry piece - making an army of separate units, with different weapons - hero's and wizards. Alternatively if you have a sweet tooth then you could take an entire army of Custard slices, cupcakes or Doughnuts into battle - simply paint the units with different icing and toppings to help separate their colours on the field. Or again purchase eight different foot troops and one cavalry piece. Your Armoured Battenburgers holding the middle ground, while you profiterole archers pepper the enemy with deadly bow fire from the sides.
Will you take arms with the Fruity Free Peoples Liberation front led by Baron Bonne Bouche of Chateau Gateux? Or charge into battle on your Chocolate éclair steed with Colonel Ambrosial of the Puff Pastry Partisans alliance?
The future of our Kitchens lies in your hands!
