Solo Roleplaying Against The Darkmaster

If you have read my blog, or been a part of my Discord, you will know that I often work on a request basis.

Back in April, I was asked about creating these rules.

So, three months later, I have a finished book, and that is what I am offering here. 

This is a 72-page PDF or print-on-demand book. It includes what I consider a complete basic set of solo tools, an Oracle, Muse, and Timers, as well as advice on running adventures and improvising as a solo player.

The rewards are for either the PDF version, or a print. The PDFs and printed books will be sent out via DriveThruRPG/Lightning Source. If you pledge at the physical rewards tier, you will receive books delivered to your door, without needing any codes or discount links.

No AI

I do not use AI.  I brand my books with the Human Made logo. I am sure an AI could produce an outline for an adventure in seconds, but you would have to stat it up yourself, which means the AI has done the fun bit but left you the work. I am also sure that an AI could write a complete D&D adventure for you, encounters and all, but Against the Darkmaster is not as well known as D&D, and I doubt it [the AI] could create the details for the encounters.

Solo games are often played in the theatre of the mind, and RPGs are games of the imagination. We don't need a picture of everything. I have seen a trend in RPG books since MidJourney appeared to have full colour art on just about every other page. Does it really add anything? Apart from page count, I don't feel it does.

Stuffing a book with AI art just makes it bigger without adding any playable content. The more pages, the more each book is going to cost, so AI would cost you money, and that doesn't help anyone.

So, no AI.

Fulfilment

Digital fulfillment will take place using DriveThruRPG. This is the easiest way to distribute your rewards and will ensure your digital books are always available. Physical items will be delivered straight to your door. When you select a physical product, Kickstarter will prompt you for your location, which will be used to calculate taxes and shipping.
