Spytails is not just another typical trick-taking game. It combines the game mechanics of trick-taking and deck-building. It takes the familiar tension of trick-taking and blends it with the strategic progression of deck-building. You are not only playing the best card for the moment, but also shaping your deck for future rounds. Remember, winning more operations is not always the best choice!

Each Spytails meeple is purely handcrafted from wood. They are more than just meeples in the game. They bring the spy world to life and make every move feel more special. Warm, tactile, and full of character. They add a charm you do not often find in a typical board game.

These four exquisite wooden sculptures are 100% unique and special. These collectible art pieces showcase Mokuomo’s signature craftsmanship and are your elegant decorative pieces. Each game features wooden meeples that bring to life four iconic forest animals: the Sleek Mink, the Powerful Bear, the Sneaky Rat, and the Cunning Wolf. Combining traditional handcraft with modern design, our team has seamlessly blended old-world craftsmanship with modern aesthetics through these meeples.

Featuring over 50 pieces of unique original artwork, Spytails is filled with character and visual detail. Each illustration helps bring the world of secret agents to life. The artwork gives the game its own distinct style and personality. From the cards to the overall atmosphere, the artwork makes every play feel much more thematic.

In a standard Spytails game box, you will find 4 handcrafted wooden agent meeples, 4 agent dashboards, 84 agent operation cards, 62 reinforcement cards, 4 team cards, 24 event and mission cards, 105 different kinds of tokens, 3 mission reward markers, 1 start marker, 1 round checker and 1 rulebook.

At the start of the game, you select your agent identity and set up your play area. Review the Mission and Event, and get ready for the operations ahead. Stay alert, the operation is about to begin.

Shuffle your own Agent Operation Deck and draw 7 cards. Then, study your hand and decide your Forecast, which is the number of operations you expect to win this round. Once decided, place your meeple on the chosen number on your dashboard and commit the number of Influence Tokens beside it.

Before and during an operation, agents may deploy tokens or use their special abilities to shift the odds in their favor. This is where tactics unfold and hidden intentions begin to surface.

In each operation, you play one card into the operation. The first card played sets the Lead Suit, and all other agents must follow it if possible unless they choose to play a special card. After all cards are played, the winner is determined by the Strength Protocol. The winning agent takes an Operation Token, leads the next operation, and play continues until all seven operations have been completed.

After all seven operations are complete, you compare the number of operations you won against your declared Forecast. If you match your Forecast exactly, you gain Influence Tokens equal to your original commitment. Otherwise, all committed tokens are lost to Headquarters.

Then, check the Event and Mission. Any agent who completed a Mission claims the corresponding reward, with shared rewards divided evenly if multiple agents complete the same Mission.

At the end of the round, you reinforce your own Agent Operation Deck twice by gaining new cards from the Reinforcement Deck. You may also choose to permanently remove up to 2 cards from your deck. As you strengthen your deck, you can begin shaping a sharper strategy for the rounds ahead.

Then, the Start Marker passes clockwise to the next agent, who becomes the new starting agent for the next round.

My name is Sebastian, my day job is in IT. (I know, I know, boring right?) I also demo board games for Asmodee, write and review board games for various websites and have even dabbled with testing here and there. I also review and write about video games online when I have time. I just love games, whether round a table with friends or curled up in front of my tv, there's just something amazing about getting lost in video game worlds and board game systems, I just love them to bits.

I am a father of three and play games a lot, I have various game groups and play everything from trick-taking and small family games to chunky euro's and dudes-on-a-map games. This is my first foray into game design and I have found the whole thing enlightening. I hope to see you round a table somewhere soon! May all your die rolls and card draws be lucky ones!
