Tales of the Old World is a line of 32mm  models set in a Low Fantasy, European Middle Ages inspired world where legends and folklore are as real as the rising and setting of the sun. Its focus is not on glorious warriors and monsters alone - but on the less common and more mundane inhabitants as well, such as NPCs and Civilians, who go about their normal lives as best they can while wars and raids rage about them.

For the sixth project we go back to the Old World! This time, we focus on one warband that has been requested several times: human mercenaries! This specific warband, The Mad Count Mercenaries,  comes from the south area of the region, a place that focuses on wine production and exports fine wine and... short people! 

Thanks to our collaboration with the great artist Piotr Chrzanowskiwe will bring to life his amazing artworks, creating a set of miniatures that you can use as grizzled veteran gang in your skirmish games or as a big unit of militia for rank and file ones!  

What do I get?

With your Pledge you get the starting Warband plus the Stretch Goals linked to your pledge level in either format of your choosing (Digital or Resin). Please check pledge description to see what is included in your pledge!

More models will be added as the campaign unfolds! Some extra Models are marked as ADD-ONS: these are models that are not part of the core warband, but can be purchased, adding the required extra amount as indicated in the guide in the ADD-ONS section.

Golden pledges and ALL-IN pledges gets them automatically, no need to add extra money. More details in dedicated section "Golden Pledges"

The project is EU, USA, UK, AU, NZ friendly, meaning no custom fees will be applied to physical backers from these countries.

Golden Pledges

Why should I pledge for the Golden pledge? 

What advantages I get compared to regular pledges? 

• you get ALL stretch goals unlocked during this campaign, both FREE ones and PAID ADD-ONS
• save time and $$$ compared to adding stretch goals manually when unlocked
• give the campaign a bigger boost, unlocking more models that are added to your pledge automatically

The Golden tier is purposefully made for the hardcore fans who believes in the project, true Citizens that would have gotten all the models anyway, so instead of having to add them manually to their pledges again and again, they just need to click once to get all models unlocked at a premium price!

This has a two-way positive effect: for you, it means getting everything with a single click at a very convenient price, for me, it gives the campaign a strong boost, helping to unlock all planned models. Plus, if the project exceeds expectations, you might even get more models than planned, while I get the chance to release in advance some of the models that are ready but not yet released.

The standard Digital and Physical pledges are for new backers, who just want the core warband at premium price, or don't want or can't commit more in the beginning. They can always upgrade to Golden pledge later!

Unlike the ALL-IN STL that covers the digital files of all the line, the Golden Pledges are a smaller "all-in" made for this campaign only, both as physical and digital.

Revenge of the Mad Count

South of the City that was, there is a sunny region famous for its flourishing vineyards and sophisticated wines. The river Averlios gives all the freshwater needed for irrigation, winemaking and transport of the precious barrels of wine and other goods produced there. The region is also renown for its crops, farmed and harvested by expert halfling hands that have created the huge "Averlian pumpkin", a pumpkin of exceptional size and taste! But even these, aren't worth a penny compared to the real jewl of the crown of the region export:

The "daughters of Averlion"

The well renown artist and genius Leonardo da Mitigliano, once said that "This wine is the highest form of art I have encountered in so many years. The color, the flavour, the taste is like a symphony in my mouth, that gives me an happiness comparable only  to the view of the portrait of my beloved wife, Monna Ginisa".

After such high praise, the winemakers stated that the barrels in which the wine aged were so precious that they started calling them jokingly "their daughters" while cared for them accordingly to this new status.

But that someone took this joke to the letter! This would have caused just laughs and an occasional "hit the mad" egg game, but the "mad" in this case is none else than Count Alberic! He can be found roaming in the cellars, giving names to each barrel of wine, talking with them and, in one occasion, he also got engaged with one! 

Shame that barrell #28/2001 was so icy and immune to his marriage proposals, that led to a broken heart and a more broken mind! 

Nobody knows if the madness is real or if the Count is "just" constantly drunk, going around always with his favourite cup , the pledge of love of barrel #28/2001 ( in truth, this was the favourite tobacco spit cup of Berthrand the old, who left on it after a long night of drinking before crashing asleep in a corner of the cellar, but none has the guts to tell the Count the truth!). But every cloud has a silver lining: he assured to the winemakers special status and also a special guard service for the wine transport, creating at his own expenses the "Sons of Averlios" guard, tasked with one purpose only: take  the ladies to destination safely.

So there is no surprise that when the City fell and the new was reported by the survivors of the guard company, his first question was about the condition of the "daugthers". And when he heard that the barrels were set ablaze (along half of the City and the people living there, but that's not important in his mind!) he went into a mad fury and called for an expedition: the survivors of the Sons of Averlios would join his personal body guard and will go to the City, to seek vengeance, find any possible survivor (we are talking about barrels of wine of course!) and create a safe area for future shipments!

Orders issued, bodyguards gets ready , mercenaries are hired and halfling trappers        ( and cooks) pack the supplies: everything is ready for the expedition. 

Some of the Sons of Averlion survivors volounteer to guide the expedition back to the City, Old Aldo the first of them when he sees his nephew Johan taking part in the mission convinced by his best friend Jack: the young nephew of the Count, flamboyant and crazy as his older uncle. 

Another Veteran steps is: Albrecth Longbeard, veteran of countless expeditions, some not less doomed than this one, tutor of the Count when he was a beardling and the only one that can counsel him and raise his voice when things turns mad. "This expedition is just another folly of yours and I am coming! And don't say no, boy!

And where halfings goes, the ogres follows: Craggut the ogre bodyguard joins the expedition not much for the money, but thanks to halfling Tobal Stout-Aver promise of special extra rations of Averlian pumpkins (the extra smell that people would consider them next to rotting, seems is considered higher quality instead for the ogres!), stored in a separate casket  to keep them safe from other careless group members and from him too, since he could literally eat them until he passes out.

And where the mad Count goes, his best buddies Lothar "the grin" and Wilhelm accompany him, announcing his presence with music and show off of his big banner.

Completes the expedition the company of Captain Thyssen, made of grizzled veterans and, as a result of a new trend in the region, some young ladies that have decided that the profession of arms, more exciting than a fireplace and a family. But be warned not all of them are young  inexperienced fools like Amalie, some are expert boar and bandits hunters, like Katherine, whose spear earned them a good amount of money over the years as she loves to show through her fine amour and eccentric hat!

The command group formed by models NAX113, NAX115, NAX119 has modular hands, arms and heads now has extra bits that give them countless combinations! Here below some examples of combos swapping only hands and arms, if you switch heads (compatible also with the rest of the warband) the combinations are infinite!

Paid Add-ons

These models are not part of the core warband, being developed in a second moment with the objective of being the biggest and coolest models of the squad; without limits of printability or budget that comes with production of the core warband, I was able to make models that truly stand out in terms of size and style! During the kickstarter you will be able to purchase them for a small extra amount to your pledge, that is still at least 25% cheaper than RPP. 

REMEMBER: GOLDEN (physical and digital) and ALL-IN STL pledges gets them for free automatically added to their pledge!

You can also find models from previous campaigns, shown below, that can be added to your pledge both for the DIGITAL or PHYSICAL version, at a discounted Kickstarter price.

Size Comparison

Range of models is 32mm heroic scale. As seen in the image below, they match up both in scale and style to some of the most famous wargaming miniatures on the market! If you want to make them compatible with older games, I suggest printing them at 95% size.

Resin models are manufactured by different makers. I choose this in order to guarantee lower shipping prices and, where possible, no customs at all!

EU and UK orders will be manifactured and shipped by Zealot miniatures. 

Their resin is top notch and cast super crisp, Ruben Torregrosa model shown above is printed by Zealot miniatures!

USA  and Rest of the World orders will be manifactured and shipped by Only Games. As you can see by the video below, their USA manifacturing is improved a lot!

Digital files

STL (stereolithography) files will be available exclusively MyMiniFactory's industry leading Pledge Manager digital fulfillment platform. Accounts are created on the platform at no additional charge, with their lightning fast cloud storage solution offering you access to your miniatures anytime you like. Plus, you'll get the latest version of any updates to the Tales of the Old World range automatically today as well as in the future. 

You will receive the following digital formats:

• STL (.STL) (unsupported) for models preassembled and models on tabs
• STL (.STL) /  (pre-supported) for models preassembled and models on tabs
• Chitubox (.chitubox) files project with customizable supports for models on tabs. Big shout to Zealot Miniatures who made the supports to the tabbed models, super efficient and professional. This files are the ones used for production, so super tested! Files comes with a baseplate to help with bed adhesion, can be removed easily in chitubox if your printer is well calibrated.
• Lys (.lys) files project with customizable supports for preassembled models. I made and tested these files between 3 and 5 times each, several promo models that you will see painted by other painters are my files!

Pre-supported models are supplied with the tab just like the resin models, ensuring less support to clean, less bits to keep track of and making printing and storing your miniatures a breeze!

All models have been test printed MULTIPLE TIMES on different continents to ensure various climatic zones, environments, temperatures and printers produce incredible prints, before files were submitted the manufacturer for final proof. 

ALL FILES SENT ARE THE SAME ONES USED FOR MANIFACTURING: this means that they are tested again and again, meaning that supports are easy to remove, no residues are left from them and that the models are printable. 

Rewards will be delivered digitally within 30 days of launch of the Pledge Manager (to the emails where the Kickstarter and MyMiniFactory account emails match, as noted below).

All miniatures are offered under an exclusive, non-transferable and personal use license only.

At great request, I put here the printing parameters that I use for printing the models you see painted here, to help you get perfect prints. Here some key points to keep in mind:

• printing temperature: 25°C , I use a terrarium headet cable in the printer to keep temp stable
• printers: I use now the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra, but used for long time also Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra and the Saturn2
• resin: I use the Elegoo ABS 3.0 8k resin

Of course, resins, temperature and printers (especially the older models before Saturn2) varies a lot, use these as generic guidelines, in case of small misprints you can use the .LYS files to increase the support point size and compenetration in Lychee.

Shippings

This project is EU, NZ, AU, UK, USA friendly.

This means that backers based in EU, NZ, AU, UK, USA will have no customs applied.

Below is an estimate to give you an idea of the likely shipping charge a single warband will incur.

UK: 12 Euro

Italy , Europe,USA, AU,NZ: 18 Euro

Rest of the World: 20 Euro

Note on shipping prices: due to geopolitical situation, prices may vary. In case of big fluctuation, I will absorb part of the shipping charges!

Models in EU and UK will be produced & shipped from UK by Zealot Miniatures !

Models in AU and NZ will be shipped by Miniature Horde

Models in USA and Rest of the World will be produced and shipped by Only-Games!

You will receive a tracking number for each shipment. 

Price of shipping is per warband, each one supplied in a box with models packed one by one in separate bags and bubble wrap, to ensure that you will not miss any piece or get damaged models. 

The shipping is going to be taken AFTER the Kickstarter,  so it is not included in your pledge - please don't add it to your total, you will have to add shippings only in the Pledge Manager.  It's going to be worked out via weight through the Axia painting web store. We use tracked shipping. 

A NOTE REGARDING SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE "Friendly Countries"
Import charges will be the responsibility of the Backer and charged by local authorities independently of the Creator.

NOTE: A few members of the community have different emails they use for different platforms, so where emails on crowdfunding and digital fulfillment platforms differ, manual distribution will take place after all backers who have the same email on both platforms have received their files. We estimate that this will be at approximately ten business days after the closure of the Pledge Manager.

Pledge Manager

If the campaign is successful, your card will be charged afterwards.

In case of physical rewards we will send you an email with instructions, a voucher and a link to the Pledge Manager. This will be through the Axia Painting website. 

This is a mandatory step where you give us your shipping details, pay the shippings, let us know what extra packs you want to add to your pledge and add anything else you may have forgotten.

If you have selected a digital reward, pledge manager will be available via MyMiniFactory pledge manager tool, where you can add extra models at late pledge price ( 10% higher than kickstarter). Unlike previous projects, this new method is more simpler and every model you add via MMF pledge manager will be immediately transfered to your MMF library, without waiting for the end of pledge manager period.

Why Kickstarter?

This is a question that has come up.....several times. 
"Why don't you just paint models as job?" or "leave sculpting to others!" 

Well....to these well meaning inquiries I explain that while I love some of the models out there from both big and small companies (my house is called museum by friends!) there are subject I feel are under-represented in the market and I'd really like to paint. Plus, I've never been good at converting so it's easier for me to create a complete sculpt from scratch than to convert - nothing more! 

Kickstarter is the best way to create more models and bring them to market in order to make them available to all who share my same passion and warm to my idea of creating models not always produced for big armies nor depicting military life. I strive to give form to those "on the sidelines", the anonymous NPCs and nameless inhabitants that experience and live vicariously through the Heroes' adventures. 

My goal is to make your fantasy world come alive. 

About me

I am a former 'Eavy Metal Forge World painter, but before that I had already worked on a commission basis for several well-known companies. The experience of working in Nottingham deeply changed my way of thinking about the hobby and, following that amazing phase of my career, I returned to Italy where I resumed working full time as commission painter but could never quell the drive to grow and produce something more. 

I envisioned a line of models different from the usual ones, with a specific aesthetic and the style I liked, with an older vibe and dark, grim comic-book composition. 

In this sixth campaign, that I run on my own, after the previous successful five were fulfilled in time (digital in 24h after the end of pledge manager), I aim to expand the line keeping the same vision and quality, offering a wider variety of models and a constantly evolving background.
