TeakTouch: The Material Revolution in Mahjong.

For 150 years, mahjong tiles have been forced to choose between two promises: the warmth of nature, or the durability of modern material. Every revolution solved one — and sacrificed the other.
Bone and bamboo gave us warmth, but cracked with the seasons.
Ivory gave us luxury, at a price the world no longer accepts.
Celluloid and Bakelite — the first plastics — made mahjong affordable, but traded away the feel.
Melamine and acrylic made it mass-producible, but left it feeling like plastic.
And even fine hardwood — the choice of today's luxury tiles — still swells, warps, and cracks.
Every choice was a compromise. Until now.
TeakTouch is the tile that refuses to choose: the grain, the weight, the warmth of heirloom wood — with none of wood's failures.
Not a compromise. A conclusion.
Meet TeakTouch. One material. Three promises.
1.It ages like wood.
Play it, and it warms to you. Our tiles develop a soft patina over time — the more you play, the more they become yours.
2.The grain runs all the way through.
Not a printed surface. The wood-look lives inside the material, edge to edge, so it can never peel or wear away. 100% wood feel. Not wood.
3.It laughs at water.
Fully waterproof. Spill it, soak it, rinse it — no warping, no swelling, ever.
Like wood. Unlike wood. Beyond wood.
From recycled material to heirloom feel
Every tile begins as 100% recyclable HDPE, re-engineered into a dense, hand-finished body. The grain is formed through the material — not printed on it. Each batch is tested for weight, sound, and feel before it earns the TeakTouch name.
No coating to peel. No surface to wear. The material is the finish.
Four ways to start your TeakTouch story — from a single touch to a numbered heirloom.
1、In your hands within 7 days. Two full-size TeakTouch tiles, shipped from our US warehouse. Hold them. Play with them. Watch the grain deepen and the color warm — the more you touch, the more alive they become. No two tiles age the same way. Yours will be yours alone
2、A material mahjong has never felt before. The heft of real wood. The warmth of natural grain. Zero risk of cracking — ever. Wrapped in a premium flip-lid gift box, ready to hand to someone who'll understand. The most thoughtful way to share something genuinely new, without the price to match.
3、This is the full TeakTouch experience. Tiles and case, crafted from the same material — one continuous story of grain and warmth. Choose between two tile face designs: Heritage or Modern. The only tier where you shape how your set looks. This is what TeakTouch was made to be.
4、One set. One number. One time.Every Heirloom Edition carries a unique, individually numbered identity. Upon arrival, register it on our website — your number becomes your product's permanent identity and your proof of ownership. This edition will never be produced again. When future collectors want one, there is only one place to go: the TeakTouch website. There, they can post a purchase request — visible exclusively to registered owners like you. You decide whether to sell, and to whom. For every numbered set, TeakTouch assumes a lifetime restoration responsibility — because an heirloom should outlive its maker, not the other way around. This isn't just a mahjong set. It's the first chapter of a lineage that only grows rarer with time.
(Both American (NMJL) and Chinese (MCR) versions are available at this tier. You'll choose your preferred version in the Kickstarter Pledge Manager after the campaign ends.)
The more we raise together, the more every set gains. Every unlock applies to every pledge, automatically.
Mahjong Saves the World
It sounds like a joke. It started as one. But the more we looked, the more true it became.
Mahjong is one of the few games that has crossed oceans, generations, and cultures — and stayed. In 1920s America it became a craze that filled parlors from New York to San Francisco. In Jewish homes it became a Sunday ritual, a language between mothers and daughters. In retirement communities it became the table where loneliness loses its grip.
Research on social connection and healthy aging points the same way: the people who play together, age better. The game that has kept three generations of women at one table is keeping them well — in ways researchers can now measure.
So when we say mahjong saves the world, we mean: it saves the small worlds that matter — a kitchen table, a Sunday afternoon, a grandmother teaching a granddaughter.
And yet the game itself was being left behind by its own materials. Real wood cracks. Plastic feels cheap. The heirloom object was either too fragile or too fake.
We are material people. We couldn't accept that.
So we spent 18 months engineering a tile that honors the game the way the game honors us: warm as wood, tougher than time, made from 100% recyclable material — so the table your grandmother kept can be the table your granddaughter inherits.
That's the whole idea. That's why we're here.
Mahjong saves the world. We just make sure the tiles can keep up.
