Do you want to play a tile picking, pattern collecting, time racing party game with block tiles but without touching them by your hands? Well, this is the game you would like to try!

Welcome to the world of Teppanyaki! Hold your spatula, face the Teppan, open the Fridge, and get ready for the orders. As a Teppanyaki Shifu, you must cooperate with your assistant to prepare delicious cuisine for the guests tonight.

A party game based on fast decision-making, dexterity and action, TeppanDo (铁板道, "The Art of Teppanyaki") will grant you a messy but fun gaming experience. You will have to collect, rotate, twist and stack tiles to resolve a series of puzzles, just like you used to do in games such as Ubongo. However, this time, YOU CAN NOT TOUCH THE TILES! As a good cook, the only tools you could depend on are tweezers and spatulas— plus the wisdom of you and your friends.

Work seamlessly with your assistant for a Show-Off in the party mode, compete head-to-head in a thrilling racing mode, or perfect your skills in a solo challange. Flip raw ingredients into perfectly cooked dishes, all while avoiding chaotic mishaps like dropping tiles or serving uncooked creations. No matter stacking eggs over mushrooms or flipping wagyu (Japanese beef), every move counts in this culinary showdown, where laughter and excitement are definitely guaranteed!

1. Resolve the Puzzles without Hand-touching

Every cuisine Order is a puzzle. You have to find, pick & collect the right ingredient tiles with your tweezers. Don't be rushy or you'll make mistakes, but also be rushy since your time is ticking!

2. Quick-Flip Dexterity Challenge

As a teppanyaki shifu, you have to COOK! All tiles must be dropped on your teppan with raw side up, and then flipped to cooked side by using your spatulas. Any clumsy move, over-flipping or fumbling may turn the culinary dreams into a hilarious mess!

3. Team Fun, Duel Fun, Solo Fun...or Larger Fun!

Love cooperation? Join forces as Shifu and Assistant in a 3-to-6-player Party mode to conquer orders, or cheer (and jeer) others as Guests.

Prefer a challenge? Face off in a 2-to-4-player Racing mode to see who cooks the fastest.

Want to hone your skills? Play on your own in Solo Challenge mode, aiming for the coveted “Teppanyaki God” title.

Or, who would like to compete for a gold medal in a Culinary Championship? With 2 or more copies of the game, you can do it with a larger group of friends. Watch out for the bigger chaos and unlimited fun!

The rules of TeppanDo is simple. You can see the play-through video for details. The following is a brief recap:

1. The Party Game:

In a party game for 3~6 players, you must finish as many orders as you can in the countdown, share the score between Shifu and Assistant, and outperform everybody.

First, set up the game:

(1) Prepare the ingredient tiles and recipe cards.

(2) Decide a Shifu and an Assistant to take the tools.

(3) Guests draw recipe cards and set a timer (3 minutes).

Once timer starts, Shifu & Assistant will begin their action as follows:

Drop the tile on teppan, with the "raw" side up.

Flip a tile on the teppan to its "cooked" side.

...and sometimes you even need to stack to finish a complicated one!

Finish as many cuisines as you can before the countdown ends. Each finished cuisine card will bring you and your assistant scores. But be careful: you cannot afford making mistakes! The more scores you get, the more probable you win the game tonight as a teppanyaki master!

2. The Racing Game:

In a racing came for 2 or 4 players, you need to race against another player or pair to finish the same order faster. With 2 TeppanDo games, 4 players or 4 pairs may also compete together!

3. The Racing Game:

In our solo challenge game, you could sharpen your techniques & dexterity to become a grandmaster. The setup and gameplay are generally similar to the party game. Check our Boardgamegeek (BGG) page and download the Rulebook (for preview)if you would like to see more details!

Remember: as a good chef, you can never touch the ingredients by your hands. You should always collect the tiles to finish the patterns with tools!

Shipping will be calculated and charged through Pledge Manager after the Kickstarter campaign ends. We will update the pricing and procedure (e.g. the Pledge Manager) in detail once we get the information from our service provider. Generally, the final shipping cost will be calculated based on the total weight of the pledge & Add-ons and the destination (since VAT may also included). The custom may vary due to your country and/or regions.

That was a quiet day in early 2024 when I was working on my war game designs while glimpsing at a pack of tweezers and spatulas, some sample parts I had received earlier. Suddenly, a question popped into my mind: could I design a board game for these cute tools?

…Pick, flip, move, …and do everything without using hands to touch…and wait…Aha!

It took me a few minutes to write down the basic rules and a few hours to handcraft the tiles. And TeppanDo was born!

The first gameplay test with the first prototype :)

I remembered that I couldn’t stop laughing while complaining during the playtests: it’s difficult, but it’s so fun!

A few friends (including my publisher, Syn) played this crude demo and agreed with me. Then here we are.

A full-time post-graduate student now (majoring in sport psychology), I’d like to see you and your friends do a little “exercise” to challenge both your body & mind while laughing. People tend to remember things they were bodily involved in; I hope you may keep the fun memories with your friends in this way !

I was pleasantly surprised when Roy (Miao Qiao) came to me with this fun game. We had a blast the first time we played and I just could not wait to take it back home to my kids. I know they would enjoy the game so much . And They did. They played a few times, had lots of fun and even invited some of their friends over to play. So I hope this game will have the same effect on you guys as well. A fun way to spend time with the kids and friends , challenging your body and mind while laughing and having fun (Like Roy said ) !
