About the Project
The Adventurer's Tarot: Empress Deck features beautifully illustrated tarot cards depicting the different classes, companions, and creature types from the ever-popular tabletop role playing game Dungeons & Dragons. The cards and two-piece deck box are adorned with gold foil details, completely illustrated and designed by artist Bee Ho. While we call it the Adventurer's Tarot, the deck is more of an oracle deck than a traditional tarot deck, as it does not follow the major and minor arcana suits of the famous Waite-Smith deck. Instead, it follows its own unique format, with an emphasis on its use in tabletop role playing games.
This campaign will help fund our third printing of the Adventurer’s Tarot, a smaller Oracle version of the deck for those who want to focus on card readings, and produce a new companion reading book; a deluxe hardcover volume featuring full-page illustrations, new in-depth oracle readings, story and flavor for each card, reading questions to dive into your character’s backstory, tarot spreads, and a voluminous collection of resources for using the deck to enrich your TTRPG experience.
✦ USING THE ADVENTURER'S TAROT WITH D&D ✦
The Adventurer's Tarot is designed to supplement and enhance existing rules within D&D to make your games more dynamic and entertaining. They include:
The rules are available in two formats: the new deluxe hardcover book, The Adventurer’s Tarot: Compendium of Fate & Fortune, and for free digitally via PDF. The 2014 and the 2024 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons rule sets are fully supported, with the minor differences between the two fully accommodated.
✦ SYSTEM-AGNOSTIC TTRPG USES ✦
Some features provided in the new Compendium of Fate & Fortune are system-agnostic and can be used with any fantasy tabletop roleplaying game beyond Dungeons & Dragons. (For example: you could use them for games like Pathfinder, Vaesen, 13th Age, and Dungeon Crawl Classics.) Or, use the deck as inspiration for your own creative writing projects.
Arcana of Adventure Flip & Write game
The Compendium of Fate & Fortune also includes rules for a unique new "Flip and Write" card game using the Adventurer's Tarot. The game can be played solo or with any amount of players as long as they can see the revealed cards, and takes around 15-20 minutes to play.

The reading guide was written by Kato Lujan Camacho, primary author of the Eldritch Overload Tarot Reading Guide, in consultation with Bee Ho, the illustrator.

"Let's start with the most obvious, the deck is absolutely stunning. Every single card is incredible. So the main reason I bought the deck (aside from wanting it for many years) is because I decided to make d&d character using the cards as a basis for their custom class (Wild Oracle, highly recommend, very cool. Also, the class stuff is free). But after getting the deck and using and going through it for a few days, it's become a part of the daily routine. I can't imagine any other deck would have captivated me in such a way. It's gorgeous, high-quality, and has a great energy to it. If you were looking for a sign to sway you into buying a deck, here it is. You'll definitely thank me."
