What is this?
The Bad Elves is a Christmas-themed, family-friendly, role-playing game based on The Witch is Dead by Grant Howitt.
In this game, you play as the bad elves who helped Krampus steal Christmas.
You will travel through the seven levels of the Candy Cane Forest, past the Sea of Swirly Twirly Gumdrops and then either help Krampus take control of the North Pole workshop once and for all or save Santa and Christmas before it is too late.
The game is completely self-contained and includes the rules, character sheets, creatures and an adventure for you to play all with hand drawn art. The rules are simple and easy to understand, perfect for someone's first TTRPG experience, to teach to your nan, your niece or for your regular group to try something different. The rules are flexible enough to support a carefree family Christmas movie or a dark tale of revenge.
The hand-drawn art is perfect for colouring
How to play?
One player will tell the story and describe what you can see around you. The other players take control of one of the elves and decide what their character does next. When they try to do something, they will roll a 10-sided dice to find out what happens. A high number means you do what you wanted; a low number means things get more dangerous.
You have a little Christmas magic and some elf skills to help you along the way but you’ll need to use your imagination to win. Good luck and have fun.
What do you need to play?
- Someone to play with, a group of 3-5 people is about right
- One copy of the character sheet for each player
- Some 10-sided and some 6-sided dice
- Some pencils, erasers and colours
