The Colonial Crucible - Rules for Colonial Wargaming

Welcome to Phase Two of Steam Pulp. I'm Lee VanSchaik and I am the rules writer for Crucible Crush Games. This Kickstarter will see the release of three different books which should cover the gambit of the Colonial period. Book one is the rule book and it will be foundational to the project and cover the historical period. We will then release two follow up books covering an imagination setting called Bungwalliland and then the more conventional Victorian Steam Age.

We are offering three books covering a whole range of Colonial Adventures with a thorough and very playable colonial set of rules. The Colonial Crucible rulebook will cover the many of the conflicts of the Colonial Period. You can view a playtest of the rules on Youtube here. The initial rulebook will be a hardcover 140 page book with scenarios for major campaigns of the period. This will have rules to play the game and alot of historical information about the age of rifles.
The second book will be our Bungwalliland Scenarios book. This will be a 72 page softcover book with ten scenarios for the Bungwalliland Imagination project. You can see some samples of these stories and scenarios on Lead Adventure Forum, here.
Finally our third and final book will be a 72 page soft cover book introducing Victorian Science Fiction elements to our rules. This will include alien factions on Mars and Venus and all kinds of steam pulp goodness including Tripods and Steam Tanks.

We will release these books in three offerings. The rulebook will ship first, along with the deck of event cards, in September 2024. This will be followed by two campaign books shipping in November 2024 and January 2025.

We will be using Print on Demand for these items through the very helpful and well recommended Wargames Vault. We will be printing the Premium Quality books from this printer.

All Prices are in Canadian Dollars as is required by Kickstarter.

Shipping for North America, Europe and Australia will be calculated when you place your pledge. 

The rules manuscript has been completed and playtesting continues. If you would like to take part in a playtest copy of the rules please contact us via email through our website. Layout and printing of the books will be completed when we have numbers on the viability of this project.

All figures associated with this Kickstarter come in unpainted white metal.

The Rulebook will be the basic system for use with historical conflicts with scenarios from the Zulu War, the Sudan, the Northwest Frontier, Boxer Rebellion, German Abushiri Revolt, France in Algeria and Italy in Ethiopia.
The third book will add VSF elements. Mars and Venus.
