Présentation de la campagne
The Firmament
The Firmament is a tabletop roleplaying game of dark fantasy and divine horror. Explore the twisted labyrinth that divides heaven from earth by placing tarot cards, then strike down human intruders with your celestial powers. Your domain is sacred, and if you allow humans to pass, they will disturb the foundation of the universe as we know it.
In the Beginning
Long, long ago, before you or I existed, Mother opened a door from the House of the Infinite and the primordial sea poured out into the emptiness. Mother left and sealed the door behind her.
Mother slid deep into a cradle of dreams. Her Aspect-in-Light, her waking mind, became the walls and spires of the Chambers of Heaven, and her Aspect-in-Shadow filled them with us: her memories, her Children. [graphics detail - sun, moon]
This part, you might remember.
When we were young, we saw life stirring in the depths of the primordial sea. It was vulgar by nature, mindlessly acquisitive. As time passed, we saw it grow hungry, and eventually, desperate.
So, we split the waters of heaven from the waters of earth.
We hammered out a barrier, a beautiful firmament, to keep these creatures distant and distracted. In this enormous dome we embedded a labyrinth so twisted that even if the ravenous worms below were to claw their way to the heavens, they would be lost forever.
At least, that’s what was supposed to happen.
Humans have landed on the moon, and are pouring into the firmament. But they don’t understand what’s at stake. If they enter the Chambers of Heaven, if they disturb Mother, if they open that door – all of creation is at stake.
What is The Firmament?
The Firmament is a tarot-based, GM-less roleplaying game of divinity and desperation for 1-7 players.
Players take the role of the Children of Heaven, the 7 pieces of Mother that have lived in palatial chambers for eons. With their universe under threat, they will enter the great labyrinth below, a battleground for the future of heaven.
But the labyrinth holds secrets, as do your siblings. It will take more than one session to uncover them.
How to Play
Each level of the labyrinth is played as a spread of tarot. Players draw cards and interpret them, based on the meanings of the cards and their place in the spread. No tarot knowledge is needed to play The Firmament, as descriptions of each spread and every card are included in the book and on handouts for reference.
The suits of tarot (wands, pentacles, swords, and cups) represent four factions of humans that have abandoned earth to pursue heaven. When cards that add up to 10 or greater from a single suit gather in a spread, the humans are able to tear a piece of divine power from the heavens, advancing their agendas toward our annihilation.
