From the First Sketch to the Tarot Card
This photo shows an early pencil sketch of the tile-inspired border for The Silent Prophecy. We’re a small boutique design studio, and our designs begin by hand on paper. From the curve of a tulip to the way the leaves flow around the border, the details take shape in pencil first. We then refine the drawings in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and use Canva to help lay out our campaign materials.
We don’t have a dedicated photography space, professional cameras, or an advertising budget. We share our work with the resources we have, straight from the studio table where it began. Thank you for being part of the process, from the first pencil line to the finished design.
Anatolian tile art is a ceramic decoration tradition passed down from master artisans to their apprentices. Artisans first outline motifs such as flowers and leaves, then paint them with fine brushes. The card borders in The Silent Prophecy draw inspiration from the curling leaves and floral patterns of this tradition.
A Divine Offering
The Silent Prophecy is an offering to those drawn to the quiet language of symbols. Inspired by Anatolian tile art, each card frames a familiar tarot archetype with ornamental motifs that invite a closer look. Draw a card, let your eyes follow the pattern, and notice which detail calls to you first. Sometimes the smallest detail is the one that stays with you.
The Silent Prophecy brings the floral motifs and geometric patterns of Anatolian tile art into the world of tarot. The borders draw on designs passed down through generations of artisans, while the illustrations give familiar tarot archetypes a new setting. From the eight-pointed star of The Star to the ceramic medallion at the heart of Wheel of Fortune, the motifs become part of each card’s story.
In The Silent Prophecy, the floral and geometric patterns of Anatolian tile art meet the familiar figures of tarot. For generations, artisans have painted curling leaves, tulips, and eight-pointed stars onto ceramics. In this deck, those motifs frame scenes about choices, change, and renewal. Some become part of the illustration itself, like the ceramic medallion at the heart of Wheel of Fortune. Gold and silver borders bring two kinds of light to the deck, one warm and radiant, the other cool and quiet like moonlight.
These studies show how the tile motifs selected for the borders of The Silent Prophecy took shape. Follow the tulip and curling leaves from the first pencil lines through the ink outline to the finished design in deep blue, turquoise, and coral.
