A complete solo dungeon crawler, in your hands the day the campaign ends

THE UNDERVAULTS is a 96+ page solo dungeon crawler in PDF — a full roll-and-write game you play with two six-sided dice and a sheet. Print it at home, or play it entirely on your screen: every play sheet comes in a form-fillable version with real, clickable fields. No board, no app, no group, no GM.

You are a field assessor for the Guild of Ruin-Appraisers [working name]: you descend into the Undervaults of a broken empire to audit their treasure. Every room is generated by your dice; every fight is resolved on your sheet; every death is deducted from your fee.

Back it for $12, get the complete game as a PDF on August 2, 2026 — the same day the campaign ends — plus the full web companion included: roll your dice, track your map and ledger, browse the bestiary, and save between sessions, right in your browser. No waiting months. No shipping. You could be three rooms deep that night.

What you get

All counts below are minimums — the finished game meets or exceeds every one of them:

  • The complete THE UNDERVAULTS rulebook: 96+ pages, bookmarked and internally hyperlinked, every table whole on its own page
  • A room generator across 4 depths — the Upper Vaults, the Archive Depths, the Flooded Ledgers, and the Crownvault [working names] — powered by 44+ generation tables (rooms, features, contents, exits, events)
  • 108 monsters on three escalating d66 rosters — 36 per threat rank, each with its own compact statblock and a line of flavor. No two are the same monster wearing a different name
  • 20 vault bosses, each with a unique encounter mechanic — a full page apiece: setup, fight pattern, signature loot
  • 72+ entries of treasure, traps & oddities — a d66 of treasures, a d66 of "Traps & Oddities," plus signature boss loot
  • 6 delver classes [working names: Bruiser, Cartographer, Appraiser, Lampwright, Bonesetter, Forgery-Clerk], each with an 8-node progression tree — 48 upgrades you mark off between delves
  • "The Great Audit" — a connected 12-delve campaign with a real arc (why did the empire break? what waits in the Crownvault?) and a 3-phase final boss
  • "Deep Run" endless mode — infinite descent, escalating difficulty, and a personal leaderboard table for when the campaign is done
  • 9 play-sheet files: the Vault Sheet (your gridded map), the Character Sheet, and the Guild Ledger — each in three versions: printable, form-fillable (playable on screen), and minimal-ink
  • A one-page quick reference — the whole game loop on a single side
  • The web companion, included with your reward — roll dice, track your map and ledger, browse the bestiary, save between sessions. Works in any browser, on any device. (Prefer paper and real dice? The game is 100% playable without it — the companion is a bonus, never a requirement.)

Why this exists

Two honest reasons.

You want to crawl a dungeon tonight, and you don't have a group. Scheduling four adults around one table is its own boss fight. THE UNDERVAULTS gives you the full loop — explore, fight, loot, level up — solo, in an evening, on your own clock. One delve is a complete session; twelve delves are a campaign.

Almost every game like this makes you print it first. The solo roll-and-write crawler is a proven, beloved format — and almost all of it is print-only. If you don't have a printer, ink, and patience, you don't play. THE UNDERVAULTS ships every sheet form-fillable: open the PDF on your laptop or tablet, click the boxes, type the ledger, draw your map on the gridded Vault Sheet — and play the entire game without printing a single page. (If you love print, the printable and minimal-ink versions are right there too. Your ink budget is a feature, not a casualty.)

How it plays

The delve loop is four moves you'll learn in minutes:

  1. Roll. 2d6 against the depth's master table generates the next room — its shape, its feature, what's inside.
  2. Draw. Sketch the room onto your gridded Vault Sheet (or click it in, on screen). The vault map grows under your hands, delve by delve.
  3. Resolve. Fight the roster's monsters with dice-and-strikethrough — fatigue and gear are marked right on your sheet. Win, and log the loot in your Guild Ledger. Lose… and the Guild deducts it from your fee.
  4. Descend or bank. Push one depth deeper for richer tables and meaner rosters, or climb out, cash the ledger, and spend your progress on your class tree before the next delve.

A taste of what's down there (all names are [working names — OPS valida]):

  • The Flooded Ledgers — the third depth, where the empire drowned its own accounting and something still balances the books
  • The Forgery-Clerk — a delver class that wins fights it never has to enter, one falsified document at a time
  • The Crownvault's final audit — the 3-phase campaign boss at the bottom of delve 12, where you find out what the empire was actually saving
  • Deep Run exclusives — 8 of the 20 bosses appear only in endless mode, so the game keeps surprising you after the campaign ends

How we make it

Jaragua Games makes small games with whole worlds inside. Every table, monster, and boss that reaches the page goes through a full design, balance, and curation pass first — nothing ships unplayed.

Delivery

All rewards are 100% digital. Your PDF and play sheets arrive via Kickstarter's Digital Files on August 2, 2026 — the day the campaign closes. This campaign funds the final balance pass, art, and layout. No shipping, no surveys-then-silence, no waiting.

The web companion: your Digital Files include your personal backer code — redeem it on day one. Companion Mode's full content (every depth, every boss, the complete bestiary) switches on automatically within two weeks of the campaign closing — once redeemed, you don't have to do anything else. Either way, your game is complete and playable on delivery day with the PDF alone — the companion is the bonus that follows you into the vault.
