About the Game
The Why Files Declassifiedis a conspiracy card game of unexplained mysteries, sinister cover-ups, and the kind of chaos only Hecklefish can create. As an investigator of the unexplained, can you outmaneuver your rivals and assemble a casefile strong enough to go public?
The Why Files has built a nearly six-million-strong audience by chasing unexplainable events, clandestine organizations, and official explanations that never quite debunk everything. Now those cases are coming to the table in The Why Files Declassified, a competitive conspiracy card game for 2–6 players. As an investigator, newly-surfaced evidence suggests an “impossible” case might be provable. Build the strongest casefile, outmaneuver your rivals, and go public before someone else controls the narrative. And when Hecklefish shows up? Assume everything is about to get much, much worse.
The Why Files Declassified is created by Studio Far Horizons and lead designer Jacob Way, in partnership with The Why Files.
Player Experience
Every episode of The Why Files blends curiosity, skepticism, research, and a dash of irreverent humor. The Why Files Declassified injects that unique vibe into the game’s DNA. Each player has their own casefile to prove, and none of the other investigators are here to help. In The Why Files Declassified, the evidence you gather can reinforce your own casefile, sabotage a rival, or set up a big move later in the investigation. The rules are easy to grasp, but the decisions keep things interesting. You can race to go public, build a case no one can touch, thwart your rivals, or become the reason everyone starts yelling at a goldfish.
