We’ve just wrapped up the design of a new game—in two unique versions—and quickly realized it deserves so much more than just two separate print-and-play files. So here we are, inviting you to help us make it bigger, better, and bolder.
What is There Was a Scout…?
It’s a storytelling game where you and your friends take on the roles of scoutmasters presenting hilarious horror tales by the campfire. If you can scare your troop, none of them will sneak out to the woods during the night. However if they do, you should manage a search party next day! Whether you're up for a casual game or a chaotic drinking session, both versions are included in the Dual Edition—and every stretch goal unlocked adds even more twists, tiles, modes, and monsters.

About the Game
There was a Scout...
This game is cooperative for 2-6 players and it is mostly focused on storytelling.
Scoutmasters, taking scout kids to camping in the forest.
Every night the scoutmasters have to tell a scary story to their troops. They need to scare them enough to keep them from wondering away from the camp, to the woods during the night. The scouts have different personalities and phobias so the stories affect each scout differently.
If any child goes missing during the night, a search party phase comes up before the next night's story time.
The goal of the game is to have all the scouts back in the camp after the final search party.
The two editions:
- Drinking: The scoutmasters try to and have to drink excessively during this version. The rules order them to drink for actions and their drunk state is the handicap that makes the game more and more difficult by each round until the final search party.
- Clean: This is a family friendly version that is created for casual gaming experience. The rules increase the game difficulty as it progress.
However the basics of the two editions are the same, the tone is completely different. In the drinking version the scoutmasters do not like the scouts, their own position and they aim to drink through the camping, while in the clean edition the characters you play are caring and wish the best for the children.
The game contains AI generated graphics.
With the stretch goals this final, dual edition will give both game modes more options and depth. These goals will bring the true horrors into the game.
