Tomb of the Spider-God - A New Cthulhu Mythos Gamebook

No sooner are you back from a certain Scottish island, then you receive a message from an old friend in dire need of your help. Something has happened in the mountains of Greenland, and it's strange enough a tale that they decided to seek you out.

People have been disappearing, and strange creatures resembling spiders are said to scurry in the shadows of the ancient mountain known to some as Mount Voormithadreth.

Almost without pause, you board another ship to whatever horrors face you, now!

Tomb of the Spider-God is the fourth book in our Cthulhu series - taking locations, creatures, gods and more from the Mythos and infusing them with exciting, dangerous interactive stories.

About our Blue Fox Gamebooks

All you need are two six-sided dice and a pencil to play our gamebooks. Roll your starting attributes and get going on the adventure of a lifetime!

Combat is simple and intuitive, and you'll have to test your attributes at several points along your journey. It's worth noting that it's not always best to successfully pass!

You'll also collect objects as you go - we actively encourage it in our gamebooks. In the Cthulhu Mythos gamebooks there is an added Stealth mechanic - don't make too much noise or people will start noticing!

New to gamebooks? Let us help you. Also known as interactive fiction, a gamebook is a multi-threaded story, which allows the player (you!) to make decisions for the protagonist (also you!).

Each section of text (aka a paragraph) has a number before it. The first, and starting, paragraph of the book is numbered 1. The paragraphs that follow it are sequentially numbered but do not follow on. If you tried to read it like a normal book, it wouldn’t make any sense.

At the end of each paragraph, you will be faced either with:

• No choice (you have died)
• Return to the paragraph you noted previously.
• One choice, turn to n paragraph.
• Or a series of two or more choices

In the last instance, you get to choose the next action. Read the paragraph text fully; in places, the book is written with subtle clues as to the possible outcomes of the actions.

Once you have chosen, find the paragraph with the same number as your choice and continue from there!

You may have to fight enemies, which are fought using two dice and a pencil!

Creators

Tomb of the Spider-God is written by Blue Fox Comics co-founder and award-winning writer Simon Birks.

He's written 5 other gamebooks; The Curse of Cthulhu 1 & 2, Arcane Rites: Cult of the Pajoli, Innsmouth: The Stolen Child and Monuments: A Branching Narrative.

His comic titles include the comics Antarctica and The Thing on the Doorstep from Image & Top Cow, Robyn, Gone, Hexes, Sinners, The Girl in the Midnight Gown and The Shadow Over Innsmouth, which have all successfully raised funds for printing using the Kickstarter platform.

Willi Roberts is the internal artist for Tomb of the Spider-God. From Argentina, Willi has been drawing comics for many years.

Titles include - The Commander, Blacklight, Myopia and The Génesis Project. He illustrated the short comic 'The Cats of Ulthar' which appears in Blue Fox's 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth - Part One'. He also illustrated Blue Fox's gamebook 'Arcane Rites - Cult of the Pajoli'.

Lyndon White is the cover artist for Tomb of the Spider-God. He's an international selling artist, writer, letterer and designer based in the UK. Combining monsters and magic, his work is highly acclaimed and described as “beautifully haunting”, especially his best-sellers Antarctica, Candles, Sparks and the Fallen Star and the Reanimator series.

His work is published by Image Comics, Top Cow Productions, Titan Comics and Blue Fox Comics. Also, Lyndon has had over 60 successful Kickstarter campaigns.

In addition to his published comics and graphic novels, Lyndon shares his experiences teaching Sequential Arts at Salford University. A sought-after collaborator, Lyndon’s design talents are diverse, working among clients such as: Twitch, Savvy Games, Historic Royal Palaces and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.

Funds Breakdown

Printing books costs money, but that's not the only thing! The funds raised from this campaign will roughly be broken down as follows:

• 50% printing costs
• 25% reward production
• 15% postage costs
• 10% Kickstarter fees

Should the campaign significantly overfund, then we will create extra stretch goals.

Campaign Timelines

We are aiming to have sent all the rewards by the end of December 2026. To do this we have developed a timeline to give you a better idea what you should expect, when.

• August/September/October 2026 - Book printed and received
