Top That Card Game

What is the game?

The game is called TOP THAT! And the goal of the game is to come up with the longest word in a given category. Players take turns pulling cards from one of 2 decks and coming up with words based on that category. Each round continues until no players can come up with a longer word, and the player with the longest word wins the round. But it won't always be that simple, as each player only has 15 seconds to come up with an answer each time, so you have to think quick! And there are WILD Cards  and Reversals which shake things up!

What are the Categories

The 2 decks are split into Name That cards and Words That cards. 

Name That cards have trivia related prompts, like naming a city, a type of animal or a famous athlete. 

 Words That cards have wordplay related prompts, like coming up with a word that doesn't have a specific letter, one that starts with a specific letter or one that rhymes with another word.

What do WILD CARDS and Reversals do?

WILD cards are shuffled into the decks and add effects to the round they are pulled, like giving players double time to answer, or the ability to gamble a point. 

Every card also has reversal numbers on it. If a player says a word that has the same number of letters as the reversal number, all following players must then come up with shorter words, and shortest answer wins the round. 

Where did the idea come from?

This idea came to me while taking a long car ride with nothing else to do but stew in my own thoughts. I started thinking of words that fall into specific categories and when I would think of a short one, I thought to myself "I can come up with something longer" and thus the game was born! From there I started thinking about how rounds would work and what the rules would be. I kept note of everything and any idea that came to me, I would right it down, whether it was good or bad. 

Over the last few months, I reworked the rules, play-tested the game a bunch and got a lot of positive feedback on the game. I now believe the game will be a great addition to any party night and get your brains working! I worked with a talented designer to make the cards unique and thematic and I worked with a great manufacturing partner to get some test samples made and hopefully make the game a reality with your support!

The game now has over 260 prompts and 36 WILD Cards to bring in even more layers of fun to each session!
