Welcome to the Battlefield

As the spaceling empire spread across the galaxy, ever searching for the next great breakfast foods, it began to encounter dark and malevolent forces in the nooks and crannies of the backworlds of the universe. And when those dark and malevolent forces began to push back, the spacelings mobilised for war, on a scale as yet unseen and as yet unimagined.

But a spaceling, for those that don't know, excels in adapting to their environment. So, when committing to war on a planet of dirt or mud, with a harsh landscape and relentless enemies, the spaceling armies often found themselves digging miles and miles of trenches, setting themselves in deep for the fight. These armies came to be known as Trench Spacelings.

Let's meet them.

Core Set - Trench Spacelings

The spaceling miniatures in this Kickstarter are designed in two modular pieces, with a full body (including limbs and equipment) and a separate, interchangeable head. The core set contains 100 bare heads, 50 male and 50 female, with each also coming with a variant that is wearing headwear (either a helmet, tank helmet or peaked cap) and several with extra variants such as wearing spectacles or a chef hat. The heads are designed to print without supports by printing them with their neck flat on the build plate.

The core set also includes 100 different body sculpts, each of which is separated by role and/or wargear option (as shown below). 80 bodies are designed to be infantry, while the remaining 20 are designed to act as two-person light artillery teams. The bodies are also separated into three groups, based on three themes: shooting, standing, and running. Each body type includes options that fit into each theme.

Each body in the set comes with a supported version. The supports are designed to use the least amount of extra material by adding rafts to the bottom of the feet, integrating the legs as their own support. The set also includes the unsupported versions should you wish to use your own supports or utilise the unsupported models in some other capacity.

PLEASE NOTE: the way the bodies are supported, and the way the heads print supportless, can sacrifice some detail on downward-facing surfaces or on the back of heads in exchange for the reduced waste and ease of use. Generally this won't impact game-use pieces, but if it against your preference, the unsupported versions are there for alternative supporting options.

It is worth noting that the heads and bodies in this Kickstarter are designed with future proofing in mind. They are fully compatible with the previous Kickstarter in this line (the models from which being included in the Add-Ons, as covered below) and the range will continue to expand in future projects.

The core set also includes a modular tank, designed in four parts, with the body, turret, turret gun and hatch/commander each being separate. A notched rim allows the turret to be held onto the body without the need for glue, leaving it rotatable and removeable. Several of the parts come with multiple options, and much like the infantry, the parts are designed with the idea of expanding the range through stretch goals and future projects. The body comes with a print-ready version that has a flattened base for supportless printing, while the rest of the tank parts are designed to print as is without supports. Each commander comes with a supported version.

One last note: not all models in this Kickstarter have been test printed at time of launch. Any renders shown should be considered to be still in progress, and may have slight differences from finalised versions should such be required as a result of test printing.

Kickstarter Exclusives

Everyone who supports this Kickstarter will receive these two exclusive models, which are designed as single-piece figures, rather than modular. Representing a reporter and her cameraman boldly transmitting from the frontlines, bringing news of the war to their fellow spacelings back home, these two models are not included in any merchant licence and will only ever be available as part of this Kickstarter.

Add-Ons

This Kickstarter also includes the models from the previous spacelings Kickstarter, Jungle Spacelings (retitled as Jungle Spacelings Vol.1). You can add the full set, which includes 100 bodies (with male and female versions of each) plus 100 heads (50 male, 50 female, with headwear variants as shown in the images below), or you can add either (or both) of just the heads or sniper bodies, if all you want are the extra options they add to the core set. All heads are compatible with all bodies from the core set and stretch goals, and vice versa.

Also included as an Add-On is the Jungle Spacelings Vol.2 set, a brand new collection of bodies that match the original Jungle Spacelings but add new options based on the new battlefield roles introduced in this Kickstarter.

There are also several Core Set options available alternatively as Add-Ons, should you only be interested in a subset of the models included.

Stretch Goals

Should this project exceed its funding goal, the following stretch goals may be unlocked. Each will receive an update with greater detail when unlocked.

If all stretch goals are unlocked, more will be added.

Delivery

REMINDER: This campaign is just delivering the digital files for these models.

At the conclusion of this campaign, the standard two-week period that Kickstarter requires for fund collection et cetera will begin. Once this has completed, all models from the core set and add-ons, and any stretch goals that are unlocked and have been completely developed, will be made available for backers to download immediately. Any further stretch goals that are unlocked will have entered development at the end of the campaign and will be made available as they are completed. How long this takes will depend on how many are unlocked, but backers will be kept up to date with how progress on them is proceeding.
