« Tricks of War » est un jeu né de la question suivante : « Peut-on mener plusieurs manœuvres de front ? ». Dans ce jeu, les joueurs mènent une guerre à travers l’Europe de la Renaissance sur plusieurs fronts, tout en faisant des promesses à leur peuple quant au type de souverain qu’ils comptent être. Nos couleurs représentent nos promesses : l’armée, l’alchimie, l’espionnage, la culture et la religion constituent autant de moyens différents de mener la guerre contre vos homologues. Les cartes « Monarque » constituent notre couleur d’atout. Inspirées de 12 monarques réels de la Renaissance, ces cartes sont dotées d’une capacité permettant d’influencer le cours du jeu et comptent comme la couleur que vous avez promise à votre peuple. — description fournie par l’éditeur

We often think of the Renaissance as a resurgence in interest in classical art, literature, and philosophy. We forget about the influential wars that shaped the world, like the Italian Wars. (Ya know that one in Italy about controlling some land.)

Tricks of War brings a twist to the standard trick-taking game by engaging in up to 6 tricks at once! Pledge your intent to your subjects as the monarch of your own kingdom and battle to be the ultimate monarch in this Renaissance inspired card game.

Linocut Artwork

Tricks of War features almost exclusively hand-carved linocut art by yours truly (excluding text placed on cards - what, you want me to be a calligrapher too?). Card elements start as a simple sketch before I sketch again and again, then transfer them to the rubber block. I then hand carve each design, ink and print them, and scan them into digital form to create the full cards you see below!
