Welcome all collectors, traders, American history enthusiasts, lovers of Americana, and trading card junkies! Creating the True American Trading Cards has been a cathartic, intriguing, and hair pulling experience... and I've LOVED every minute of it! Whether it was navigating licensing, copyright, and right of publicity or finding out that Elon Musk's maternal grandfather was born in Minnesota who eventually moved to South Africa for idealogical reasons, I have learned so much! Curating a list of 250 Americans who I believe have created and shaped the nation has given me much honor and perspective.
Growing up in the United States of America in the 80's and 90's, it often felt like the best of times as a kid. Sure, there were problems... but WE were going to fix them. Now that I've taken a deep dive into historical (and some modern) events and personas, I believe I'm better equipped for the future. I'm hopeful that everyone who supports and receives True American Trading Cards can not only benefit from the anticipation of opening the pack or the ability to trade & acquire a fave, but will learn from the historical facts, accomplishments, and blunders along the way.
For example, I had no idea Frederick Trump (the late father of the current President of the United States of America) owned a brothel during the Klondike Gold Rush and was a barber. I also didn't know that Elon Musk's grandfather, Joshua N Haldeman, was not a Capitalist and that a plane he was piloting crashed after the wheels got tangled in a wire.
There's no shortage of irony in our history, as an American, and I can only hope to learn from the ancestors who walked before us. Thank you so mich for taking the time to check out this page. I sincerely hope you support and enjoy the trading cards. True American Trading Cards has been a treat to complete!
