🌙 What is Umi's Infinite Tales?
🌙What is Umi's Infinite Tales?
Umi's Infinite Tales turns adventures, creatures, locations, and story ideas into modular card decks that can generate individual encounters or complete branching adventures directly at the table.
Each Adventure Deck contains 100+ cards filled with encounters, rewards, complications, and major challenges.
Draw a card when you need an instant encounter, use a complete deck for a themed adventure, or combine several decks and Node Maps to build replayable roguelike-style runs.
Designed for:
- D&D 5E system
- Solo players
- Game Masters looking for zero-prep content
- Groups looking for structured adventures
- Existing campaigns that need quick encounters and ideas
- One-shots and spontaneous sessions
One deck. Endless paths. Infinite stories.
✨ Core Features
Each Adventure Deck contains 100+ themed cards built around a specific setting, adventure, region, or style of play.
Use a single deck for a focused experience, draw cards individually whenever you need inspiration, or combine several Adventure Decks to create more unpredictable adventures. Every deck works on its own while remaining fully compatible with the wider Infinite Tales system.
Play them separately. Mix them together. Build something completely unexpected!
🎨 CARD TYPES
Adventure Decks include several different card types, each designed to create a different kind of moment during play:
- Combat for battles, ambushes, and dangerous confrontations.
- Roleplay for characters, conversations, choices, and social situations.
- Exploration for travel, discoveries, hazards, and unusual locations.
- Puzzle for riddles, mechanisms, and interactive challenges.
- Atmosphere for strange events, magical phenomena, and narrative twists.
- Boss Encounters for major climactic challenges.
- Boons & Curses that can affect the rest of your Run.
Individual cards can also include different difficulty or intensity options, helping them remain useful across a wider range of characters and adventures.

Turn your Adventure Decks into complete branching adventures using Node Maps.
Separate your cards by encounter type, shuffle each pile, and follow the paths shown on the map. Players choose their route as they progress, with different nodes determining which type of encounter comes next.
Some Node Maps also include Mystery Nodes, split encounter choices, alternate routes, optional paths, and other special spaces that make each Run less predictable. Characters can also gain and spend Fate Points, collect Boons, suffer Curses, and carry the consequences of earlier encounters into the rest of the journey.
Change the map, take another route, or reshuffle the cards and the same decks can create a very different adventure.
Dedicated Monster Decks collect ready-to-use creature stat blocks that can be used alongside Adventure Cards or during your normal campaigns.
When a Combat Encounter calls for one of these creatures, the corresponding Monster Card gives you everything needed to run it without searching through another book.
Adventure Decks also contain dedicated Boss Encounters, designed for major confrontations and the final challenges of a Run.
Monster Decks can also be used completely independently as quick-reference creature collections for your regular 5E games.
Every qualifying pledge includes the complete Umi’s Infinite Tales Guide.
The Guide explains how to prepare and use your decks, create Runs, follow Node Maps, use Fate Points, handle Boons and Curses, run Boss Encounters, combine multiple themes, and use Infinite Tales alongside an existing campaign.
It also includes:
- Solo play rules
- Game Master guidance
- Roguelike Run rules
- Example Node Maps
- Guidance for adapting the system to your own games
Everything needed to begin using Infinite Tales is included in the Guide.
Infinite Tales is designed to support several different ways to play.
- Solo Play. Build complete adventures for a single player using Adventure Cards, Node Maps, Fate, and the solo guidance included in the Guide.
- Zero-Prep Game Mastering. Need an encounter, complication, location, NPC situation, or unexpected event? Draw a card and use it immediately. Adventure Cards can be dropped into ongoing campaigns whenever you need something quickly, or used together to build an entire session.
- Group Adventures. Take a full party through a structured Run where players choose routes, reveal encounters, gain rewards, suffer setbacks, and work their way toward the final Boss.
Infinite Tales can support its own standalone adventures or slot directly into an existing campaign.
🃏 Adventure Card Anatomy
Every Infinite Tales card follows a clear, consistent layout:
- Card Type: Combat, Roleplay, Exploration, Puzzle, Atmosphere, Boss, Boon, or Curse.
- Type Icon: Quickly identifies the card category at a glance.
- Theme: Shows which Adventure Deck or setting the card belongs to.
- Card Title: The name of the encounter, event, or effect.
- Encounter Text: All narrative information and rules needed to use the card.
- Difficulty Tiers: Where applicable, cards include Tier I, II, and III options for different character levels.
- Checks & Consequences: Relevant DCs, choices, effects, rewards, or penalties are included directly on the card.
- Set Symbol: Identifies the deck or expansion the card comes from.

🖥️ VTT Support
Because the project includes multiple Adventure Decks, Monster Decks, Node Maps, and other components, we want to find a format that feels practical and fairly priced for everyone.
We are still considering how individual decks, larger bundles, and the wider Infinite Tales system could be offered on VTT before locking anything in.
Expect more news as we prepare dedicated Roll20 and Foundry VTT modules for Infinite Tales.
🖨️ We Are Using Print-on-Demand!
The project is fulfilled through DriveThruRPG's Print-on-Demand services.
Physical rewards will be printed and fulfilled by DriveThruRPG.
Each backer receiving physical rewards will receive a special code to use on DriveThruRPG's platform in order to claim their rewards.
Print-on-Demand allows us to offer a large collection of physical decks without maintaining warehouse stock or depending on limited print runs.
For more information, check the Printing & Shipping section further below.

🎲 5E System Compatibility
Umi's Infinite Tales uses 5E-compatible mechanics for combat encounters, creatures, checks, and other mechanical elements.
The wider system can also be adapted to other tabletop roleplaying games, especially its roleplay, exploration, puzzle, atmosphere, and narrative encounters.
Use Infinite Tales directly with 5E or adapt its cards and adventure structure to the game your group already plays.
🛠️ Meticulous Designs by Experienced Creators
Infinite Tales builds upon years of creating adventures, supplements, monsters, settings, maps, and tools for tabletop roleplaying games.
Every card is designed to provide something immediately usable at the table while still leaving space for your own characters, campaigns, and ideas.
The system focuses on quick use, replayability, flexibility, and giving players and Game Masters useful tools whenever they need them.
🌌 The Starlight Chronicles Setting
The stars guide fate and fate guides the souls within the realm. So it was and so it always will be.
Explore and experience the vast and amazing cosmos of the Starlight Chronicles Setting!
Many Infinite Tales decks are inspired by adventures and worlds from the Starlight Chronicles.
From frozen ruins and crystalline realms to cursed seas and journeys across the stars, each deck transforms existing settings into modular adventures that can be shuffled, combined, and explored again and again.
As the Starlight Chronicles continues to grow, Infinite Tales will grow alongside it.
📅 Production Milestones
We plan to release finished content gradually rather than holding everything until the entire project is complete.
Some rewards are already finished and can be delivered much earlier, while the new Infinite Tales decks will move through writing, editing, card preparation, testing, and final production over the following months.
January 2027: First Digital Fulfillment
Already completed rewards will begin going out first, including:
- Previously released Monster Decks
- Previous project Digital All-Ins
- Other campaign rewards that require little or no additional production
Months 1-6: New Deck Releases
New Adventure Decks, Monster Decks, Node Maps, and Guide content will be completed progressively.
Our current goal is to release a couple of finished decks approximately every other month, allowing backers to start receiving and using new Infinite Tales content throughout development. During this period we will be working on:
- Writing and encounter design
- Editing and revisions
- Card file preparation
- Node Maps
- Umi’s Infinite Tales Guide
- Stretch Goal content
- Digital release files
- Final print-ready files
Month 7: Proof Prints
Once the physical card files are complete, we will order Print-on-Demand proof copies and inspect the finished products. Any necessary printing or layout corrections will be made before fulfillment opens.
Month 8: Print-on-Demand Fulfillment
Once the proofs are approved, Print-on-Demand fulfillment can begin for all backers receiving physical rewards. Backers will receive their DriveThruRPG redemption codes and can order their physical decks directly through the platform.
Digital rewards will continue releasing throughout production, so you will not need to wait until physical fulfillment begins to receive completed content.
Once we lock the campaign end date, we can replace “Month 1–8” with specific calendar dates.
📊 Project Status
We keep a public Project Status page where you can track the progress of all our crowdfunding projects at any time.
Writing, artwork, layout, production, and fulfillment stages are updated regularly so you always know exactly where things stand.
👥The Team
Kelfecil is a professional narrative designer and writer who started by creating adventures filled with mystery, magic, stars and of course... lots of drama! People seemed to love it, so he got to work creating a whole world filled with those things, connecting stories and bringing joy and tears to players all around the world. Now, he spends his days drinking milkshakes and imagining new stories to tell in the Starlight Chronicles setting!
For Sailing the Stars, Kelfecil wrote, designed and put together most of the things you will find inside. As usual, he is also responsible for setting up the PDF, managing all logistics and finances of the project and of course making sure it runs smoothly!
Dusky is an star-loving illustrator and art director who started her journey in the TTRPG industry through the Starlight Arcana project for which she illustrated the whole tarot deck. Since then, she has been looking at the stars, drawing them and making up magical starry content unlike any you've ever seen. She spends most of her time playing board games, watching JoJo (and cat videos) and working hard on directing all of the art designs and concepts for all current and upcoming Kelfecil's Tales projects!
For Sailing the Stars, Dusky directed the creation of all artworks that are in it, illustrated a lot herself, and helped put together every other visual piece of content around it (from promo materials on this page to the layout of the PDF). As usual, she is also responsible for preparing all print-ready files!
🎴 Creator Promo Cards
To celebrate the creators, collaborators, and friends who have supported us and worked alongside us over the years, we are creating a special collection of Creator Promo Cards for Umi’s Infinite Tales.
Each featured creator will receive their own unique card, inspired by them, their work, or the adventures we have shared together. These cards will form a separate Promo Card mini deck, included FREE with every pledge.
These Promo Cards are exclusive to this campaign.
They will only ever be offered as part of the Umi’s Infinite Tales crowdfunding campaign and will not be sold separately afterward.
We wanted to use this project as an opportunity to celebrate some of the awesome people who have helped us along the way, while also giving every backer a fun little bonus deck to add to their Infinite Tales collection.
🙏Special Thanks
- Blair, the Australian wizard, who has helped us so much with all sorts of things that have to do with code! You continue to be the most reliable person on planet Earth (or other planes for that matter), no matter what the situation may be and wherever you may be.
- D&Demetrius, who has worked alongside our wild imagination and the insane things we come up for our collaborative work.
- All our Patrons, who have stayed with us over the years and supported us through thick and thin. We wouldn't be still doing this if it wasn't for our amazing little community!
- Kelf's parents, who although they have no idea what he's making, they still support him wholeheartedly.
- Dusky's family, for letting her doodle her way into a life of demon summoning and other wild things (such as making this book).
