It's the little things that make a big difference, and nobody knows that better than the Brownies, Fairies, and Sprites living in the House, the Garden, and the Woods Beyond.
Underfoot is a rules-light, three-stat tabletop RPG where you play as a fey trying to navigate the topsy-turvy world you call home. With your Storyteller's guidance and 2-5 friends (aged 10+), you'll be able to go on stealth missions for scarce materials, commune with forces of nature, and make mischief to your heart's content- just don't get caught by the Giants you share a home with! Your diminutive size may be a strength, but it is also your greatest vulnerability.
Play as a Brownie, Fairy, or Sprite- each fey species possesses a specific skill set tailored to the environment they thrive in! You'll be able to boldly go where no fey has gone before as a Voyager, harness the chaos that comes with Pixie Dust as a Mage, and train to protect your community as a Guardian. Customize and refine your fey’s specific skill set with Affinities- you can be anything from a down-and-dirty Drain Dweller to an esteemed member of the Tooth Fairy Guild!
If you're a fan of The Secret World of Arrietty, Pixie Hollow, Fraggle Rock, or the Spiderwick Chronicles, then this game is right up your alley!

Game Mechanics
Underfoot is played with a standard set of dice, a character sheet, and boundless imagination. As a player, you determine exactly what your character wants to do. Whether you succeed in your action or not depends on what you roll on the die. Underfoot uses a 1d10 roll-under system to determine these successes and failures. Every action you can take has a correlating stat. Whether it’s recalling information or swinging a sword, you will need to roll your stat or under for the action to be considered successful.
The story continues based on the consequences of the actions you and your party took, as well as the results of the dice rolls. There are rules and structure in place to keep everything fair, but in the end, a TTRPG is all about using your imagination, working together, and telling an amazing story with your friends! Your story (and the world it takes place in) is open-ended for a reason.

The Nitty-Gritty of the Itty-Bitty
Underfoot is published as a 5.5” x 8.5” perfect bound full-color book including illustrations. As of right now, we’re sitting at about 80 pages of fun fey content for you and your party to explore!
Our team is the embodiment of brotherly love, and it’s important to us that we keep production local by employing the services of Fireball Printing. Not only are they a local small business, but all of their digital paper is FSC certified. All shipments are also carbon neutral- which is why we love them! Thanks, guys!
Underfoot was made using absolutely no generative AI.
It has been such an honor to playtest this game with the people who believe in us most! We pride ourselves in having created a game that can truly be picked up by anyone, no matter their age or experience with TTRPGS. Our youngest playtester is Sophie, a 10 year old who had never played a TTRPG before but said that she “wished every game was like this!".

Our Party
Ella Carter (she/her) is an illustrator and game artist based in Philadelphia, PA. Underfoot is her brainchild and senior thesis project, and she’s the head writer, sole illustrator, and layout designer. When she’s not working on art for her game, she’s working on art for other people’s games- her client list includes Weird Works, Let’s Roll Press, and Inkwell Ideas. She also serves as an educator at D20 Adventure Camp Philly. If she were a fey, she’d be a Fairy Mage with the Magic Educator affinity!
Gideon Caro McDonald (he/him) is an actor, musician and storyteller based in Philadelphia, PA. He's been working creatively with Ella for 4 years as her Dungeon Master for a long-standing homebrew 5e campaign, and as a writer for an original 5e compatible magic item project called Ornaments of Omoria. Gideon is a cast member at SideQuest Theater, a youth educator at Philly PACK and D20 Adventure Camp Philly, the host of "Philly Phone Book: A Podcast Artchive", and a member of the Jette Planes, a local rock band. If he were a fey, he'd be an Earth Sprite Guardian with the Pilot Affinity!
Lee Tew (they/them) is an illustrator and cartoonist based in Philadelphia, PA. They’ve known Ella for 5 years now and have been collaborating on art and roleplay ever since. While Lee is a writer on Underfoot, they mostly spend their time drawing comics about silly clowns and robots. If they were a fey, they’d be a Brownie Voyager with the Jester affinity!

Reviews
A delightful gem of design in a deceptively small package. Underfoot delivers subtle complexity in spritely tome.”
Tony Vacinda, Chief Alchemist of PlusOneEXP
"There's something inherently enchanting about imagining yourself as a tiny person... the wonder of seeing our homes and habitats from the perspective of someone so small; the delight in finding giant, delicious foods; the terror of encountering a common crow that’s marked you for dinner. Underfoot captures this magic brilliantly and channels it into tabletop roleplaying perfectly."
Thom Denick, Co-Founder of Weird Works LLC
"Gorgeously illustrated and really inviting to read. It's laid out in an engaging way for veteran TTRPGers while not overwhelming first timers."
Heather Vaughan, Illustrator (Kids on Bikes, Unmatched:.Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Maximum Apocalypse RPG)
