Hello, everyone! Welcome to Upheaval (Gekido) 1: Warrior Monks (Sohei), my first Kickstarter in 3D modeling. A few words about me. I have been a passionate sculptor of historical miniatures for over 30 years. I've worked almost exclusively in 15-18mm for companies such as OldGlory15mm, Blue Moon, and Battle Valor, with some of that historical work being visible in the Netflix series "Preacher."
During 2025 I expanded my work into 3d modeling. This is the first of many projects I hope to produce in this medium over the coming years. Previous Kickstarters for which I've sculpted were Samurai in the age of war, 17mm miniatures in white metal. This one is in the same period, but sculpted digitally, and I am concentrating on the Sohei first.
Sohei (warrior monks) were a powerful force during the gekido (upheaval) of the Sengoku Period in feudal Japan. These formidable warriors superseded their role as spiritual leaders, becoming armies in their own right, settling disputes between rival temples and forcing political representation in Kyoto, leading to the beginning of the end of their overt influence. The siege of the Enryaku-ji temple complex on Mount Hiei in 1571 by Oda Nobunaga's forces ended in a massacre of between 1500 and 4000 such sohei and their families.
These STLs are designed for smaller miniatures, 10mm to 20mm from foot to eye, and greater tabletop impact. The examples below have been print-tested on an Anycubic DLP printer by engineer M Lawrence.
Kickstarter with its global reach is currently the best way for me to introduce the 3d models. I have slowly been working on this project for 6 months, slowly building up the line. During that time, I have also been working on its partner project (Upheaval 2). If successful,I will eventually re-sculpt all of my historical lines from Napoleonic's to the American Civil War, and more...
Special thanks to S Moline for his work on the graphic design, and M Lawrence for printing and then reprinting the STL's to make sure everything printed correctly.

Below are the stretch goals for the project. Each time the Kickstarter reaches that dollar amount, those STL's will be added to all backers. As the project progresses, I will add more stretch goals if necessary.
