Veilfall: The Devil’s Vow — A Dark Urban Fantasy TTRPG

The City Built on Broken Seals
Ironward does not sleep; it suffocates.
Beneath the hiss of rain on cobblestone and the cold glow of gas lamps, the district of Ironward lives in the shadow of ancient, terrible math. A century ago, the Great Compact chained the unseen horrors of the Veil behind seven ward-bound Seals, establishing a fragile truce between mankind and occult forces. In exchange, humanity gained sorcerous industry—blood-fueled engines, shadow-threaded glass, and corporate dynasties built on stolen pacts.
But the seals are cracking.
In the alleyways, ritual drug dens trade in distilled memories. In the high towers of the Concordate, aristocratic lineages sacrifice lineage and soul to maintain their monopolies. And in the dark, something vast and hungry is beginning to turn, feeling the mortar give way.
In the Mud with the Monsters
You don't play legendary knights or chosen heroes in Veilfall. You play the people called when the blood-slicked truth leaks into the public eye.
Rogue Occultists binding dangerous minor pacts to pay their rent.
Burned Inquisitors discarded by the Church when they saw too much behind the altar.
Street-Level Detectives equipped with ward-inked revolvers, chasing cold cases that defy mortal logic.
Broken Enforcers trying to buy back their own souls from corporate sorcerers.
When a high-ranking Concordate executive is found hollowed out inside a locked vault—leaving only a glass rose and a ritual trail—you are brought in to clean up the crime scene. But in Ironward, every clue you follow uncovers a deeper lie, and every secret you uncover forces a choice: Will you sell the truth to survive, or bleed for a city that won't remember your name?
Key Campaign Themes Highlighted:
Occult Noir & Investigation: Clues carry consequences; magic is ritualistic, dangerous, and carries a steep toll.
Corporate Sorcery: High fantasy meets industrial corruption and street-level desperation.
Moral Ambiguity: No simple "good vs. evil"—every faction has a motive, and every choice involves a trade-off.
