—description fournie par l’éditeur

Wallguards of the East Empire is set during a turbulent time for the Byzantines. The year is 821 AD, and Thomas the Slav has his heart set on seizing the throne from Emperor Michael II. With recent backing from the neighbouring Abbasids, Thomas’ troops more than double those loyal to Michael. As citizens of Constantinople, we must rally our warriors, build up siege defences, deploy ships, and defend the city’s walls at all costs. Despite what seemed like certain defeat, allies are coming to our aid, and even those who fired the first arrows have begun defecting to our side. The tides are turning, and hope continues to grow for our great city.

Key Features

  • Fast turns and minimal downtime without sacrificing strategic depth and replayability
  • So many paths to explore and different ways to build your deck
  • Meaningful decisions on each turn, and an engaging defence sytem
  • Easy to use solo system that provides a real challenge each time

Aim of the Game

The aim of Wallguards of the East Empire is to be the player with the most Victory Points (VP) at the game’s end. Points are gained by training Warriors, gaining Siege and Technicians, improving the Barracks, and most importantly, defending the city’s walls. Each turn players will be using Cards to take actions, with most actions causing 1 or more Cards to be placed into the 4 Battlefields above their Player Board. Once a Battlefield has 5 or more Cards a defence will be triggered, and that player’s strength must be assessed. Victory will gain them a Defector, while defeat will bring a new Ally. The game ends after either the Defector or Ally Draw Pile runs out.

In Wallguards of the East Empire: Vow of Victory, new supporters have come to the city to aid in our defences. Along with them come new siege technologies, specialised combat techniques, and four brave new Heroes. Only one thing remains - we must vow to hold off this vile invasion, remaining loyal to our one true Emperor!

Vow of Victory adds a new path for upgrading Supporter Cards in the game without overloading the game with new rules. Each game uses 3 of the 12 unique Mercenary units, adding new ways to play and new strategies to harness. Also included are 2 new Siege Cards - Ladders and Siege Towers, and the high risk/high reward Purple Dice.

The Wallguards base game box has been designed to also hold the expansion components.

The 630x548mm Play Mat is made of 2mm thick neoprene with grey stitching around the edges. It also comes rolled inside a sturdy cardboard tube. It has been designed to support Wallguards and the Vow of Victory expansion.
