You Don't Meet in a Tavern

You have a great idea for a role playing game campaign filled with twists, challenges, and oodles of action. But where do your player characters meet? We've all met in a tavern - so many times that most taverns must be filled with nothing but adventuring parties meeting for the first time.

But there are so many more interesting ways to meet! You DON'T Meet in a Tavern contains dozens and dozens of system agnostic scenarios for meeting anywhere BUT the tavern. From spring festivals and mistaken identities to dark magic item shops and shipwrecks, this guide will help you start out the adventure with atmosphere and adventure.

I started writing Tavern during 2020: just a handful of ideas for our 'next' campaign would be. A handful turned into a dozen, which eventually became a bushel! Once I reached 30 I thought it might be fun to turn them into some sort of zine or booklet. At 50 I knew that'd have to be a book. Now at 70+ Its a fully realized trade softcover with a beautiful exterior and interior art from some fantastic artists in the games industry.

The Guest Scenarios booklet developed as I finished off Tavern. With this book of beginnings, we thought a few fully formed scenarios would make for a perfect one shot afternoon or a casual adventure for a special journey in your current campaign. Along with some enormously talented friends, we've come up with five full scenarios for you to enjoy. Use them for a stellar one shot, or add them for a special session or two to your campaign! It also celebrates the art of Tavern by featuring the illustrators whose work is found in the book. And backers can find themselves in the back, listed as one of the supporters that made this project possible!

You DON'T Meet in a Tavern is a 150+ page softcover trade sized book filled with 70+ campaign, one shot, or session openers. The scenarios are system agnostic - intended to use along with your favorite tabletop role playing game. Each scenario contains a unique set up & story plus suggestions for the GM to help set up the adventure and questions for players to enrich their journey.

Guest Scenarios & Art contains five unique, full RPG scenarios that could be used as a side quest, one shot, or built onto for a longer campaign. From the creative minds of our Guest Writers, these adventures range from terrifying, to puzzling, to downright cozy. Our Guest Writers feature Danny Quach, Fertessa Allyse, Ben Phelps, and Poorna M.

In addition to the work of our enormously talented writers, both books contain art and illustrations from a dozen incredible industry artists.

Once we're funded, we have a plan for some fun extras that we hope to include with a full pledge!

At 10k we'll be able to upgrade the binding on Tavern from softcover to hardcover!

At 15k we'll be adding a journal to record all your adventures! 100+ blank pages to record all your party's machinations!

At 20k we'll upgrade the binding on Guest Scenarios & Art! Both books will be hardcover if we reach this goal!

At 25k we'll add another unique scenario by a special guest writer from the Tabletop community! We'll be revealing WHO during the campaign!
